Overkill

I just had this dream last night, but they are so easily forgotten upon waking up... or being woken up. Meh.

The only bits I remember are these:

There was this crazy killer guy we had to get, but he kept evading us. Though pretty much all early details are gone, I get this feeling like we almost had him, but due to someone's idiocy, he was able to get away and we couldn't touch him.

Then he kidnapped all the children of the people working the case. They were all about the same age--young--probably between 7 and 12. And there were a lot of them, too. I get a general number of around 15 or something. How he got them all, I dunno, but the worst part is that we couldn't do anything about it.

We knew where he was, but wouldn't barge in for fear he might hurt or kill them if we tried. Some kind of arrangement was set up somehow. Obviously I no longer remember how or why. We would not break his door down and storm the place, but we would give things to him to give to the kids. They had to be packaged one way or another, just not loose, and they also had to be labeled--what it was, the purpose of it, and exactly who it was for. The guy was very paranoid, I guess.

We passed along various things. Eventually the number of objects grew quite vast, each of the large number of kids getting multiple things. Now don't ask me why--it's a dream. I don't know why. :) We did inevitably get the guy, but I don't remember how. Grr. This is what happens when you get woken up. Bleh.

But anyway, we did get him and we got the kids out safely. That part wasn't an object of much detail to begin with, so I'm not too concerned with it. But I and some others who worked with/for me went into the broken down shack of a house afterwards to assess the damage, I suppose. We saw all the things we had passed along to the children. Every object was in a little bag, and they were all laid neatly in rows.

At one point, we had given over a puppy to cheer up a particular kid, but when we got inside, we saw myriads of what looked like tiny toy dog figures in their little bags. I looked on them with uneasiness, saying that the guy had killed all the dogs. That doesn't really make much sense. I imagined we'd given a puppy to each kid, and he had obviously killed them all, but why did they appear as little toys?

Now that I think about it, I think one or a few of them were still barely alive, in their plastic baggies. Creepy, yeah? :|

I wondered if he'd even given the stuff to the kids, or if he'd just sat it aside. I didn't know where the kids were, just that they had been taken out of the house sometime before we entered it, and were safe. As for crazy, I don't know where he was either.
