I decide to go to church for something to do and invite my friends Lucy and Sylvia. We arrive and it's like a talent show with a "woman" introducing the first act. That first act were all men in drag showing off their outfits and walking up to and around the audience. There's also another show happening in another area and most everyone, who are all in swivel chairs, turn to face the other direction.

The scene switches and now I'm back in college and going to the same school as an old friend of mine named Diane. She has a locker adjacent to mine. A man from the West Indies named Matambo is delivering laundry and putting it folded neatly into our lockers. He has also given us, in a bottom drawer of the lockers, small plastic animal figurines. "Hey, animals!" I say to Diane. "Me too" she replies.
