Last night I dreamt a number of odd dreams and there seem to be no interrelationship between the sequences, but here follows the parts I recalll the clearest; "I was walking into a market place in a major city. The weather is grey, the city is grey. A man with a pony tail who looks like a weasel stands behind a market stand. I stroll past. On the table of the market stand is a big apple, carved in wood. Just as in passing, I take out a big knife and with one hit, I slice the apple in half. The man behind the market stand looks at me and nods. "It's 1000, you know." I tell him that of course I will pay for it. When I look for my wallet I have not got it with me. I promise to go get some money and he nods again. As I walk away from the market, a stranger follows me and tells me I better come back with the money since the man in the market stall is a well-known gangster who will otherwise hunt me down and make me pay some other way. " The rest of the sequence is a bit of a blur, but the main thought is that I have loads of hinderances put in my way as I try to get back and give the man his money. Another sequence that follows after the apple sequence is me at a party in town. "I have driven my car to the party, but since we decide to have a drink, I have to leave the car in a underground garage, intent on picking it up the next day. I don't remember much about the party and the dream sequence is much clearer when it comes to the day after the party and I am supposed to pick up my car. Where I left the car I fact find another car; much more expensive than mine and a convertible. My mother is there and she says; You have to drive this car insted, but be careful. The expensive car is "parked in" and I don't want to have to revert it out of the narrow space. My mother insist and I persist in saying that she must move it herself. Once the car is out of the parking space (my mother finally does it for me) I notice that there are already two strangers sitting in the car. It is a middle aged man and his wife. "You get to borrow this car, but we were promissed to be driven some where first," they explain. I start driving. It is a very odd car, since it is not just a convertible, but it also has no doors on the sides and it is more like sitting on top of an open platform, constantly risking to fall off when you take curves. They want to go to a place near the horse race tracks. We drive past loads of stables and horses. I leave the couple by a big factory building." Then I wake up. Odd, is it not?
Odd yes, but not uncommon. They remind me of dreams I've had about not being able to find my wallet and being in strange vehicles that's structure were hard to describe. In one dream, I was driving something that resembles a seat in a carnival ride. The first dream has to do with hidden dangers. But I can't figure out the wooden apple worth a thousand. Was cutting it in half an unconscious act or did it have purpose?
Wooden apple Well, I was just walking by the market stand, I saw the apple and lashed out spontaniously and cut in in half. I suppose that is described as an unconscious act. Inside the apple looked just as a wooden replica of a real apple.
I found this about wood: To dream of wood, suggests that you are feeling dead inside and emotionless. You may be behaving automatically and just going along with the flow. Or you may be acting out without fully thinking things through. To dream that you are carving or shaping a piece of wood, indicates a power-giving, creative act/gesture. Alternatively, the wood may also symbolize spirituality and vital energy. And this about apples: To see apples growing in a tree in your dream, symbolizes wisdom and great prosperity. Well-earned rewards will be promising in your future. Consider also the common phrase, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" which may imply that you need to take better care of your health. To dream that you are eating an apple, denotes harmony, pleasure, and fertility. In a biblical sense, eating an apple symbolizes your sexual appetite, lustful desires, and sexual awareness as associated with the apple in the Garden of Eden. To see green apples, represents developing love or love that has yet to blossom. To see rotten or eaten apples in your dream, denotes that what you are striving and aiming for may not be fulfilling, and even harmful to you. It may also represent your carelessness. http://dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/ Do any of these interpretations resonate with you?
Wooden apple Well, nothing I have heard has rung a bell so I tried free association of symbols with friends; Apple turned out to be Knowledge and wisdom -mainly and Wooden apple was the same thing - but frozen in time: I am still looking for more interpretations and insight. Nothing I have found so far has been close to any revelation. //K
Good luck Karin. I sounds like you are getting close, at least with the apple. You've also had other dreams with your mother in them. Do you think the dream may be about or related to your relationship with her?
apple-associations Hi again, It is possible that the apple is linked to my mother. In fact her name is Eve. ;-) I'll think about it some more. Thank you
Re: apple-associations It's possible. A wooden apple makes me think of something fake. Slicing such an apple makes me think of you trying to expose someone's/something's phoniness or superficiality - getting to the "core" of the matter.
