I'm driving a car down a hill and its almost airborne as I go down the hill at tremendous speed. It feels like I'm soaring. Then I slow down right before I land in front of a factory that resembles one I worked at in the late 80's and early 90's. I turn a corner to an unfamiliar part of town. There are residential houses here and two boys on bicycles.

I enter the back of the building and my mother is here and she says that you can tell when men are first getting up, they're much noisier than females and it was about time I got out of bed. Then she started saying something about Africa and going there. I kept insisting "Who's going to Africa?"

A women with a tray of of old stale bread and pastries comes out of a side door and she resembles one of the teachers I work with now. She goes out back and throws them in a dumpster and somehow my mother ends up in there as well. She asks me to help her out and I tell her not until she tells me who is going to Africa.

She tells me about a former co-worker of hers that was told do go. Apparently, this woman is rather shiftless and lazy on the job and spends most of her time talking and eating snack cakes from a box. Then I'm at her place of work and it reminds me of another factory I used to work and the woman is wearing either a maids' or waitresses uniform and is standing by a machine. I thought it odd that this women would be chosen to go to Africa and I wondered if she knew this.

I thought about this off and on today. How does Africa tie in with the dream images? I think of Africa as a place of beautiful music, culture, and scenery. I also think of it as a place of severe poverty, starvation, and genocide.

I remember I panicked in the dream when my mother said something about going to Africa. I don't recall what she said exactly when she first told me, but it got me really upset.

Perhaps it was my own fears that were being manifested in the word Africa and all the horrible things that happen there. I also fear that if the political climate in the U.S. doesn't improve, there will be some type of civil unrest.

I have been under stress lately because of my dad's illness.
