Hello. I'm new to the forum. I just want to share this dream I recently had about my friend Dan who passed away early last year at the age of 57. I also want to see if anyone can think of any significance the ending of this dream might have.

Well, the dream starts off with me entering a hotel bar/lobby. I took a look around at the people inside the place and noticed Dan sitting in a chair across the room. He also looked very young. Confused, I look at him and yell, "Dan?!" and he laughs and replies, "Yes, it's really me, Kid! I came to visit!" I ran up to him and hugged him really hard. Then I apologized that I might have hurt him with my big hug. He laughs again and says, "No worries, Kid. I can't feel pain anymore!" I continued to hug him and tell him how much I've missed him and how happy I was at the moment. It was a long embrace and we would say things to one another here and there. The dream lasted a little longer after that moment. He was hiding in different places and popping up and teasing me - making me think that he left without saying goodbye. (He was a big jokester in life). When it was time to actually say goodbye, he grabbed my hand and hugged me. His hand, however, felt like a baby's hand. I said that to him and he laughed and said, "I'm little and cute!" He said it in a childish voice, like he was trying to be funny.

What could that possibly mean? I read a lot of articles tonight on visitation dreams. All of the articles say that the deceased visit with a purpose. Was he trying to tell me something?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. I'd really appreciate your feedback :)

Ultimately, it's your call. There's no way a "visitation" can be proved or disproved.

I'd note, though, that it's not uncommon for the dead to appear in dreams. I've frequently had dreams featuring my grandmother, father, and old friends who are long since dead; and have never awakened feeling that I've been "visited." They are usually part of the dream plot and, since they exist in memory, are brought in by what I like to call "Dream Central Casting."

My opinion - and it's only an opinion - is that your psyche is telling you that, though he's dead in the waking world, Dan still "lives within you", and that the baby-soft hand and the imperviousness to pain are ways of pointing out that now he's "real" in a different way than he was during life in the waking world.

I'll also point out how pleasant and happy the dream was. In whatever way, death has not ended your friendship. Enjoy!
