I'm looking for some insight about two sequential dreams I had a few nights ago. (I wrote them down.) The first and strangest is a dream where I witness a small, weird, and utterly inexplicable car accident. This dream takes place in my home town where I was driving an unknown but very quiet, and smooth vehicle (unlike my current car) down a road I know very well, and as I was driving through some twisty portions of the road a forest green Jeep Wrangler came up behind me and dangerously passed me (in a no-passing zone of this road), then under-steered off the road, drove into some brush, and had a small accident with something like a tree stump (I didn't see the object it hit, but it didn't hit it hard). The curious thing about this dream is that when the Jeep was behind me, the headlights were on, but as it passed (and crashed) the headlights were turned off and remained off. I woke up immediately after the Jeep crashed. I was still fine in my (unknown) car, and I had it in my mind to pull over and help.. but the dream ended before I had the chance. The second dream came immediately after the first, and is equally strange + memorable. This dream is short, but curious. The setting is a room with white walls and light wood floors (like the house I want). I dreamt that I had pulled a fluffy blanket off of the back of a small, modern black leather couch or loveseat while facing the couch. (I should note that this is a couch I want as well.) I pulled the blanket off the back of the couch, and fluffed said blanket in the air before letting it fall back down to the couch. After it had fallen down to the couch I noticed a being/person appeared and was sitting on the couch facing me (a person that hadn't been there before the blanket obscured my vision of the couch). This being/person looked to be that of an old man with a pipe (a sort of captain-like figure). I don't think the man ever looked my way, he just looked comfortable sitting there. I woke up shortly thereafter. I know car accidents represent trauma, but this accident wasn't traumatizing in the dream as it wasn't my accident and it didn't look serious at all. I also read that the appearance of an old man figure has something to do with wisdom, but I really can't completely decipher these dreams by myself. Dreams don't occur all that often for me, so when they appear so vivid like this I feel there's something my subconscious is trying to tell me.
You say that your current car is neither quiet or smooth. Is it possible that you are worried about having an accident in waking life? If not, the dream could be about you worrying about someone else you know engaging in behavior that coud cause them harm. The part where the headlights are off just before the car crashes could have to do with the idea that they are choosing to ignore the way they are causing problems for themselves. I think the man in the second dream could be the archetype of the wise old man.
