These were two nightmares I had almost nightly from the age of 4 until I was about 6 and a half. They seemed to just stop when I was 6 and I haven't had them since. But they were around for 2 and a half years and I figured I'd come here to get people's insight.

DREAM 1: I'm always outside in this dream. It varies where outside I am, but for the most part, it's in front of my house. I'll be playing outside with tons of people out in there front yards. It's bright and beautiful outside.

All of a sudden, the people seem afraid and they all scatter. I'm the only one left outside, and while it's still bright out, it's gotten noticeably dimmer. I start to hear a creepy, yet upbeat piano playing. Down the street I see someone resembling Charlie Chaplin (I think it is, but it may just be someone similar) walking at a hurried pace. He's in black and white, everything else is colored. The music continues and I start running, but I'm never fast enough. He catches me and begins beating me with his cane/walking stick. I always wake up before I die, but never before he's caught me and started hitting me.

DREAM 2: This one is shorter, more vivid, and ALWAYS exactly the same.

I'm in a white room with no doors or windows. Completely trapped. The floor is tiled, and orange and white. In the middle of the room is a car. The driver's side door is open and I'm standing in between the open door and the interior of the car. The dream view is in first person, and I'm staring hard at the driver's side mirror. In the mirror I see one of the corner's of the room come into focus. As soon as it's in focus, the car disappears and I find myself in the corner, staring directly into it. I then hear a muffled voice mumbling words for about 4 or 5 seconds. When he's done speaking, I wake up.

Both of these dreams terrified me as a kid and I just wanted to see if anyone could figure it out.

They're both different and very vague to find a meaning.

No...unfortunately not. It was just a muffled adult male voice. Like someone trying to talk with a balled up sock in their mouth.

    Just muffled speech.

both of those are very creepy and totally gave me goose bumps. I too had reoccurring dreams when I was a kid, they were always very vauge but extremly scary. I can't even describe them when I have them because it's hard to put into words but it really freaks me out when I do. I still have them, maybe once a year now, and I'm 27. THey are always the same too, they never change.

I didn't have nightmares as a child (at least I don't remember having any) but they seem to be common. I remember when I was growing up a lot of other kids talking about how they dreamed about being chased by monsters (although they may have been making it up to impress the other kids). I think the reason children may have nightmares could come from the fact that when you are young you don't have any control over anything; you don't know what is going to happen in your future and there are so many things you don't understand that it can be frightening. Especially when you are very young and you can't use/understand language very well things you see and hear in waking life can get mixed up and misinterpreted.

Then again, you could actually have a bad childhood and have bad things happening in your life which carry over into your dreams.

My childhood dreams were mostly about exploring fantasy places that I visited repeatedly in my dreams.

Here is some information on children's dreams.
