Ever since I had this dream, I've felt awful. A combination of total confusion and, for want of a better word, horror.

To begin with, I was in a relationship with a dark haired girl (She was not anyone from my waking life) and we had been having some problems relationship wise. So, we decided to book a vacation so that we could take some time to try to sort things out. Come time to leave, she has to do something and can't go, but I decide to go anyway. I go to the bus station and get on an old, dirty coach full of people I've never seen before and begin the journey.

Randomly throughout the journey, people from my waking life, ranging from friends and family, to people I've barely said more than one word to appear (as in, suddenly they are there, without the coach stopping and them getting on or anything) and after we speak, they just vanish again. (I don't know why, but this feels significant somehow, and it happens again at the end of the dream)

Eventually we arrive at the "Hotel", although it is really just half of an office block, as though half of the building has been reduced to rubble whilst the rest remains standing, in the middle of no-where, no villages or towns, just empty fields for miles in every direction. The interior of the hotel was just as decrepit and dirty as the outside and I felt isolated and alone.

After wandering the empty halls of the building for a while, I met a fair haired girl (again no-one I know from my waking life) and we started talking. After some time we realised we had a lot in common and started to spend a lot of time together. The rest of the vacation consisted of me and her spending most of our time together and eventually I decided to tell her that I had romantic feelings for her since my origianal relationship was virtually over. I told her about the dark haired girl and that I was going to speak to her before we thought about starting a relationship and that if I ever had to choose between them, I would choose her (the fair haired girl).

Not long after that, the dark haired girl somehow turned up at the hotel and I spoke to her and everything seemed to be going ok, but then things got really strange. The fair haired girl appeared and somehow, I was put into the position of having to choose between them, so I stood there and they were on different sides of the room with me in the middle, then (and this is probably one of the most confusing parts) they both turned into dogs, the dark haired girl turned into a collie and the fair haired girl turned into a golden retriever. Then, (this is the part that confuses me the most) I chose the collie, or the dark haired girl, even though I felt more for the fair haired girl and had actually told her I would choose her.

After that the three of us got on the coach and began the journey home, which again had people randomly appearing who I knew, but I woke up before the coach ride ended.

I'm not really sure how much of that is relevant, but it has really messed up my mind, I can't think straight since then and I'd be very grateful if someone could help me to make some sense of it. Also, if it has any relevance, I am currently single and there were no ex's in the dream. Thanks in advance.

I think the dark haired girl and the fair haired girl represent a choice you have to make.

Going on a holiday to try to sort things out could mean that you feel that you have to change the way you are approaching the problem (try something new).

The coach represents your path in life. It is old and dirty because you know something has to change.

The different people in our waking life probably represent different ways of solving your dilemma - their meaning would depend on who the individual people are and waht they represent to you.

Edit: Even though you posted this in love, dating and relationships, the choice doesn't necessarily have to be about love or relationships. The two girls (dark haired and fair haired) could stand for something totally different.
