Hi Everyone, Just signed up so I'm new here. I need some thoughts on a very strange dream I have had more than once about my son Erik who died in a car accident 5 years ago. He was 16, my only child. Here is the dream... Erik is in our home, and it's just normal everyday life. Except...he keeps eating batteries in my dream. Yes, you heard me, the little AA batteries. He puts them in his mouth like he is eating potatoe chips, and you can hear them crunching like they are really hard, but he can chew them up and swallow them. In my dream I told my husband he can't eat those! The acid or whatever is in them is going to do something to him, why is he doing this?? Erik tells me in the dream it's no big deal, he digests them just fine. In my dream I just chalk it up to some strange habit. Why in the heck am I dreaming this??? I know, it sounds totally off the wall, trust me, I wake up shaking my head too. Erik and I were very close, and obviously this has been the most horrible thing that will ever happen to us. The last 3 years have been horrible, very heavy grief and in the last year I am finally feeling happier and moving forward. I just don't get this dream!! So now that I am starting to feel somewhat better in life, why such a strange dream. Any thoughts?? Thanks so much, Mandy
My sympathies for the loss of your son. I saw a Law & Order episode years ago in which a young girl killed a playmate and then put a battery in his mouth. A psychologist said that the perpetrator was probably a child because of the battery. The girl put the battery in his mouth hoping that it would revive the boy, or bring him back to life. Your dream made me think of this show. Do you suppose the battery was a metaphor for your desire to revive your son, either in life or in memory?
