First of all, I would like to say that I simply love dreams. I just recently discovered this website and have been thoroughly enjoying flicking through the various dreams people have posted. So I thought in the spirit of contributing I would post a dream of my own that seems rich in symbolism, but I can't quite understand what is being expressed.

As the dream begins I find myself in a house with a woman whom I have never met before in waking life, but I understand that she is my wife (it might be worth mentioning that I am single and have never been married). I also seemed older than I actually am, still myself but more what I think I will look like in maybe five to ten years. My wife seemed to be setting up our house for some sort of party when both of us realize that there is something wrong in the house. Neither of us can pinpoint exactly what is wrong, it was more of an ominous feeling, a sort of awareness to an unknown danger that lurked in the dream. I decided to look around and went out a back door, into what I assumed was my backyard. I stepped out into a massive yard, covered in a deep snow. In the yard, maybe 30 feet from the house, was a large rollercoaster, half covered in snow. The scene was marvelous, when I reflect on the dream the image seems so surreal and magical, but in the dream it felt completely normal. At this point I was accompanied by a black dog, it was strange that while a black dog is normally quite the foreboding presence I was in no way threatened by him. He seemed to be my companion, he was reassuring in a way. After finding nothing in the backyard, I returned to my house, still followed by the dog. Upon entering I turned to find a wall that towered over me. The massive wall was filled with strangely shaped drawers. I began to open some of the drawers, and after opening several I opened one that contained a large, jet-black flea (about the size of a plum). I immediately knew that this was the dangerous presence we felt and decided to destroy it. To do this I took a pair of scissors and cut the flea in half. After doing this it became apparent to me that this would not kill the flea but only create two separate fleas. I was growing restless, I decided to throw the flea into a garbage disposal, but when I tried to flip the switch the disposal would not turn on. I became incredibly panicked, flicking the switch up and down but to no avail. My wife too became frantic, shouting as I desperately tried to get the disposal to work. And then I woke up!

Sorry for the lengthy post, but the dream was so vivid that I didn't want to leave anything out!

I think your wife in the dream is your anima, the feminine, instinctive side of you. I think that you and your wife are together in the dream because the dream is about using all the parts of your mind/personality, both your rational side and your instinctive side.

A house in a dream can represent your self and can also symbolize safety and security, so your sense that there is something wrong with the house can be a message from your unconscious that there is something going on in your life that could end up causing you danger.

You could be older in the dream because the dream is about something that could happen in the future. Age is also associated with wisdom, so it could also be a message that you need to use your wisdom in order to deal with things.

A roller coaster can represent ups and downs in life, but it is also associated with going to an amusement park - having fun and getting away from day to day life. The roller-coaster covered in snow, and you and your wife having an ominous feeling while planning a party (also when you have fun and get away from everyday things), can be a reminder that when things seem nice and you are happy and having a nice time, there could still be problems/threats in your life that you need to deal with before it's too late.

The part with the black dog could be a message that things aren't always what they seem to be. Something that appears bad/dangerous on the outside could be very good/helpful.

On the other hand, a flea, which is normally very small and which you wouldn't pay too much attention to, becomes a very dangerous thing that you can't destroy.

So the dream could be saying that something that may seem small and unimportant is really a big problem for you.

    Great analysis!
I always had a feeling that the flea represented something internal.. But I never knew that a house often represented one's self in a dream. I wonder if it is an aspect about myself that I dislike or some other concern. Maybe doubt? Or just fear itself? I wish I remembered more about my wife in the dream, I would love to learn more about my anima. That's what I love about dreams, they present so many opportunities to learn about your self.

Maybe your "wife" will become a recurring character in your dreams.
