I often find myself wandering alone in an old abandoned house of some sort, usually off the beaten path in some remote place. As I wander about from room to room, I look up to see a lion moving down one of the hallways. At first, he doesn't see me. So, I take the opportunity to try and escape into one of the rooms and quickly close the door behind me. But, in time, he finds me and begins to claw and bite at the door, trying to push it down and get to me. There is no lock for me to engage, the door is not that solid, and the only thing keeping him from getting inside is my own strength pushing back against him. In the dream, I know that he will eventually prevail against me. But, somehow I always wake up before he makes a meal of me.
Hi! that's a very vivid dream and I could put myself in it. If it were my dream, I'd think that the "lion" was a representation of either a "hungry beast' within myself--urges and compulsions I am trying to keep at bay. It could be anything in nature--sexual, material, violent, etc. Or the lion could be some hidden beast within my subconscious I am trying to keep at bay but is getting stronger and may eventually have to face. It could be a memory of a past abuse, a mistake, or guilt not dealt with yet. Does this resonate with you?
