I had a strange dream last night. Parts of it are very clear in my memory but others are a bit sketchy.

I saw my boyfriends ex (she lives overseas and isn’t someone that we run into) and I tried to avoid conversation with her, we ended up talking and I was trying very hard to be pleasant and welcoming to her. Then its a bit sketchy but the next part I remember we were in a large warehouse or empty house with little furniture. I think that we were moving house, there were boxes stacked neatly around.

Other friends of mine (work colleagues who I don’t see socially in real life) came over too. We all were in conversation, laughing and drinking champagne (not something that I drink), while his ex sat separately on a couch looking through our possessions.

I spoke to my partner on the phone and said that he wouldn’t come over until his ex had left. Although the dream gave the impression that they were still friends.

During the dream I felt quite anxious and didn’t want to be spending time with this woman.

Any ideas on what this could mean?

I think that, in your dream, your boyfriend's ex represents something about yourself that you don't like - maybe there is a quality that she has but you also see in yourself.

When you move house, you often find yourself going through old things, finding things that you didn't remember that you had, figuring out what you should keep and what you should throw out. So the dream could have to do with you examining your life and your past as you go though a change. Seeing all the boxes stacked up could have to do with you trying to put your thoughts in order and trying to make your life "neater" and less complicated.

It's interesting that in the dream you socialize with people you wouldn't normally socialize with in real life - your work colleagues and the ex. I think this has to do with exploring different sides of your personality.

Hi Marcia, Thanks for the interpretation, it is definitely some good food for thought. Maybe i need to look do a bit of self evaluation to make sure that i don't make the same mistakes
The information you have given me on the moving house side of the dream is very relevant. Definitely something that I have been going through and working on.
