    so weird

Charry, this too has been a recurring dream for me. I can't seem to wrap my head around it. And another thing that seems to happen while i'm running is I run faster if I grab the grass. So I'm like still human, but running like a cheetah... but i have these dreams often... like once a month!! What does it all mean!?!

Although I've never dreamed of running on all fours (at least I don't remember it), it seems to be a common dream theme and there is at least one other thread on here about it.

The Evolutionary Theory of Dreams could have something to do with it.

Since this theme seems to be pretty common, I've merged a couple of threads on the topic and stickied.

    similar dreams

I have had similar dreams of running on all fours. i completely agreed with the disjointed feeling in the shoulders. For me i always notice how my hands feel on the ground. If im on dirt or grass i can feel my hands sinking in and gripping as i run but when i am on pavement i can feel the hardness under my hands. I have had recurring dreams but my are more like series. Like i'll have a dream and i will go back to a place i have dreamed of before and i remember how to get there, usually involving some secret place. Also i grew up with my grandma and the property next door to us belonged ot my great aunt. it was a a huge property with forest and a lake. Alot of people in my family have dreamed about that property and for me it is where i go most often. in the dream wen i go through the gate that separates the properties im always on all fours and the property is always so much bigger and there are always differences.. i digress. Point is i would love to know why i so often dream of running on all fours. oh and i am usually trying to find someone i care about, usually a baby of some sort so i am a little panicked but i always noticed how good the running feels and i growl at people who get in front of me.

I've never experienced a dream in which I was running all fours myself, so it's hard to imagine the experience of others, but the fact that a few people have mentioned a similar feeling of having disjointed shoulders makes me think that this might be related to the paralysis that takes place during REM.

I have had dreams in the past where not only run on all fours, but really feel that I have shapeshifted into a different animal. Occasionally I become a hawk and fly, and once I turned into a snake and slithered on the ground. I believe it has to do with reverting to an animalistic state, as during those dreams I feel a very strong primal, instinctive sense of power and connection with the earth.

Dream setting is a "huge warehouse"....on some scaffolding. A warehouse is where one stores things. Scaffolding is a temporary means of reaching higher spaces. The arms represent our actions, our deeds, the legs are what supports us. Our will, our ability to stand up for ourselves. Running on all fours suggests that one is using both the legs and arms...or rather all of our available resources...Taking actions (using the arms) and the ability to stand on one's own and go forward (legs supporting oneself). The warehouse again suggests stored possessions. Ok...looking at all the symbols..the dream suggests that you have a lot of stored qualities that you can use to further your life. In the past or present you have been able to reach "heights" in a temporary manner (scaffold)....but what you are really hoping for and wishing for and have the ability to do is to hit the ground running (on all fours) and USE what you have to achieve a more long lasting sense of a fulfillment.
