I got an e-mail from a former roommate. He said he's been having terrible dreams about me and wanted to see if I was okay. He would not give me details but I assume I must have been dead or dying in his dreams. Why would he make me worry like this?

From what I can find, death means change in dreams, so maybe I shouldn't be worried. Any thoughts?

I believe your friend means well, and is just concerned about you.

Yes, death in a dream often just means change. In addition, when your friend dreamt about you, he might not have really been dreaming about you, but about some quality that you represent to him.

I think you should reassure your friend that dreams communicate ideas through symbols, and they shouldn't be taken literally.

Unless you have some logical reason to believe that there is a good chance that something bad is going to happen to you, I wouldn't worry about it.

Old friend checking up on me UPDATE

    Update:

My friend gave in and told me he dreamed 5 nights in a row that he was treating me for brain cancer. He is a radiation therapist. He said my family and husband were all there. Everyone was very sad and I was reduced to a vegetable state. He had this dream 5 nights in a row and woke up every time very worried about me. Then one night it stopped. Then a few nights later he dreamed of me and my husband as being normal and everything was fine.

How could I interpret this? We are trying to make a big change in life by attempting pregnancy, but my friend doesn't know that! Help!

Even though you haven't told your friend that you are trying to get pregnant, is there a possibility that he senses that there is something "medical" going on with you--without knowing exactly what it is--so he's misinterpreted it to mean that there is something medically wrong with you? For example, if you've been making doctor's appointments or going for tests, or even just seeming more concerned about your body than usual.

I rarely talk to this friend, he lives 5 hours away. We just e-mail each other usually once a month or so. I guess it is still possible for him to dream of me "changing" since I am trying to make a big change by having a baby.
