I had a dream several years ago that was peaceful and serene, but then I turned around for a moment and when I turned back it was blood, gore, and masacre. I saw a big white beautiful dog with flowing fur, it seemed to run across in slow motion and as if my view was fuzzy (like how in old movies they softened the lens by smearing vasoline on it) in my dream, which I later found out was a Great Pyreneese. I had turned around to bring my friends attention to the dog and it was when I turned back and saw the dog gutted, that the nightmare began. This was, by the way, about 6 years ago and as of last year my mom found an abandoned pure bred Great Pyreneese. (FReaky huh?) Anyway, I have never been able to figure out all of the dream and it was so jam-packed of scenes and characters I can't forget, that I think on it often. My most disturbing memory was that in the dream a killer named "the dentist" is loose and I go to an emty room that appears to be like a public park's office, with one single window and a desk. I find my Dad and tell him what is happening and that we need to hide. He is holding his neck and doesn't say anything but somehow I understand that we are to hide uder the desk and he will drape himself over me and act dead so they won't find me. When we are finally in position, he tries to speak and it becomes clear as to why he was holding his neck... It has been slashed and when he tries to speak the warm spray of his blood splatters across my face and neck, I woke up still feeling the warm spray on my neck. Any thoughts on the meaning of this dream or why I felt the spray for many seconds after waking (nothing was on my neck, and there were absolutley no drips from the ceiling or wet spots around me, I checked, b/c it was so real after waking that I thought it could have come from outside stimuli.)

Did the Great Pyreneese trigger your memory of the dream? This could be just a coinidence.

Such horrible violence in dreams can sometimes indicate pent up rage, or the manifestations of suppressed memories of abuse or witnessing something terrible. The part where your view is fuzzy also indicates memories that aren't clear or buried.

The part where the dog was "gutted" may reflect your emotional state, either at the time of the dream, or the time of the buried memories. It could mean pent up anger or feeling "hollow" as in emotionally dead or downtrodden.

The part where your dad covers you may be representative of wanting protection from harm or bad memories.

    Does any of this resonate?
