I did not go to school today because I was sick, so I stayed home and slepped. I had one of the most horrifying dreams I've ever had. I don't remember chronological order, but I remember details.

I remember there was a stair way in one point, and standing around it was I and a bunch of other people. I never really even saw them, I was always looking the other way, but I knew they were there, and I knew we had a purpose there, something along the lines of paranormal discovery, or slaying of the vampire, as it were. The scene changed rapidly into and out of the house I was in, and over to a haunted castle/torture dungeon you might say. All I know is that the house was haunted, and I could feel the evil all around me as I walked through. There was a kind of fear in the house, a kind of evil that wasn't quite so afraid as it was just insane. It looked like an expensive house at the time, though dimply lit by yellow light, and at one point during the day, and another at night, and I remember ghostly things happened like the throwing of chairs. I was walking through a house created by a sick and twisted dark insanity. Terrible things happened, my friends died, they were killed by the darkness, or the corpses that were oozing with puss and dried blood, the mutilated faces, or the woman.

There was a beautiful woman. She turned, as I started to fight and talk with her, into a rotting walking screaming corpse. Her hair fell out and she was bald, and half her face began to rot while the rest of her face remained ghost white, except for the holes of black rot poking holes through her skin. I don't know if it was puss or snakes or what that was coming out of the side of her head. She yelled as she talked to me, and it was very frightening.

I walked through tunnels in the castle, decayed by years of neglect and fallen supporting structures. But though it seemed the cramped tunnel of broken wall seemed old, it was littered with a few corpses, the most noteable one I recognized as a man. He was above me, kind of up on a ledge about six feet into the air, and his arm was splayed out over the top of the small crevace I was navigating. His arm, as I could see, was covered with dry blood, and out of the inside of the elbow, mounds of puss portruded, and a small bit of green surrounding the edges of all wounds looked extremely sickening. I seemed as if the arm I was now walking under, avoiding touching, had been severed from the body and was just laying next to it, but the angle was slightly above my sight, so I opted not to stand up and take a closer look. And then I saw another bridge of human flesh sort of just splayed above me as I walked under it. Both of them the arm of a dead man layed above my path as I walked.

The serious theme of the story, I noted as I thought about it more, was that the house itself was what was changing into and out of this kind of horrible torture chamber place with walking skeletons and horrifying figures. I felt a presence of darkness the whole time, but I found it odd how the environment would change from a type of concealed evil, then into a completely obvious truth of it. I knew that where I was was a dark place, but it was a strange sort of "stripping away the obvious mask around it" kind of dream. None of the transformations happened slowly, the decaying of the woman, the changing of the house, it was rapid, like a light switch that is the guise would just be turned off, and everything was different.

When I woke, I remember I didn't feel like I was afraid of anything I had seen, I just felt an opressive darkness surrounding me, and, now that I think of it, rang with the thought, insanity. But the lack of fear almost denoted that I was used to it. Like that kind of thing wasn't a threat, just uncomfortable. And let me just clarify, I don't have nightmares, I don't have disturbing thoughts, I'm a very positive and stable young guy, so this was especially unusual. The only nightmares I've had always have to do with some invisible force, like a ghost. Especially ghosts, come to think of it. But this was like...ghosts in a twisted hell-house. It's left me scrambling for an explenation. Someone with some dream experience, please help me out.

Do you have nightmares a lot, or is this quite a rare thing? It could be an effect of being sick. Things like houses often represent your inner self, because in waking life we live in houses the subconscious mind uses the image of a house to repsent your deeper self that lives inside your mind - like your mind is your house with you inside. Castles are pretty much the same as houses only more secure, so they can represent your feelings of inner security. They can also represent spirituality and magic, to some degree, especially if you happen to be into fantasy stories, dragons, wizards etc.

There seems to be a lot of decaying and ghosts in your castle, which could also be indicative of your illness. Just a reflection of the foreign bodies, germs etc inside you. Thinks like flu and colds can make you have pretty bizarre thoughts anyway, if that's what you have, which often make you have odd dreams.
