Hi,

First time posting on here, just joined, so hello.

I was wondering if anyone could relate to / advise on what I suppose is a recurring nightmare of mine. Been having it intermittently - rarely I guess - for a few years now.

Basically, I wake up, knowing I've had a really terrifying nightmare of sorts, and I'm really scared t6o go back to sleep. However, I'm usually so tired that it's a real effort to keep myself awake.

When I start to fall back into sleep, there's this really, really loud electrical sound in my head. Like an electric fan or helicopter. Like the sound that runs through that movie, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Never actually saw the movie in full: I had a flatmate who played it and only caught one scene - where there's this girl sitting around with two nutcases and a dead body and there's lots of screaming and horror. Decided from just that scene that it wasn't my kinda thing ... but there's this really strong sound of an electric fan ...

Anyway, that's all I can compare this sound to. And it gets so loud as I'm about to fall asleep again, and gets me so scared, that I wake up, terrified again, and scared to go back to sleep.

This nodding off then waking afraid goes on for a while, until, eventually, I clearly go back to sleep and all is ok, because I wake up the next day normal, without any fear, just confused.

So, to summarise: starts with me waking up terrified, feeling an intense fear, and being afraid to go back to sleep. (Usually start cuddling my partner if around at this point too, haha.) Electric fan / helicopter whirring noise runs terrifyingly through my head as I start to nod off and wakes me back up. I fear going back to sleep and this goes on for a while, but eventually I fall back to sleep and it's over. Until the next time.

Decided last night that it was time to google this sound. Tried it this morning but to no avail.

Any insights incredibly appreciated.

Just thought I'd add ...

I ahdn't had this dream in a long time. Bought a book about dream analysis las week and before I went to sleep last night, told myself I wanted to remember my dreams. And back it comes!?!

the sound you hearing

ok i had the same sounds going thru my head a sharp electric razorsound cutting through my head and mine made me paralized.. found out it was a seizure.. and i also had sleep apnea.i hope this helps
