I have been dreaming quite alot lately about being pregnant.

Last night I had a very vivid dream that I was in labour, it was a long difficult labour. Eventually the doctors agreed to give me an emergancy cesarian section, but before they did a scan. In the scan they found out that my baby was going to be deformed and autistic.

Before they put me to sleep and I remember being petrified of the pain, but there wasnt any. My husband sat in the corner very anxious, they asked if we still wanted the baby even though it was deformed or wether we wanted to abort it. I said that I wanted the baby.

After the operation I woke up and my baby wasnt that badly deformed but it was autistic. My husband had left, he sent a message through my friend saying he was scared of the baby but would get used to it for me. I remember thinking how beutiful my baby was even with its deformaty.

The wierd thing is when I told my husband about my dream this morning, he looked at me in shock and said he had dreamt basically the same thing ... he had dreamt had given birth to an autistic baby who was deformed.

I am not pregnant and we are not trying for a baby. What do you think this dream could mean? Please help...

    Hi, and Welcome.

Autism is a condition of the brain in which a person lacks social skills and can't adequately interpret social cues. Considering this description, can you think of a recent social situation in which you and your husband were in where you both felt misunderstood or failed to understand the actions and words of others? It could have been at a family gathering or a social function.
Perhaps you mentioned new plans---moving to a new location, going back to school, buying a home, or anything "new." Babies are often a symbol of something new in one's life.

So, you may have decided on something new and family or friends were disapproving. Does any of this resonate?
