Hello, I'm trying to buy some black paper at an art/ accessories store in my homecountry. I'm in the line to have my paper cut. My turn finally comes and the woman tells me to go the Canadian side of the store and to talk to Laura. I'm walking to the other side and can't find any counter. I'm walking into a room. There are 3 people, a woman and 2 men. I ask for Laura; the woman tells me it's Ellora, and the 2 men are mean and laugh at me. They tell me to go downstairs. I'm pissed and swear at them in English. I'm going downstairs, the escalator is actually a roller coaster going upside down. Once downstairs, I realize it's a departure hall. I am at this point extremely pissed and frustrated. I go back upstairs and start cutting the paper myself. Someone woke me up at that time so I don't have the end of the dream... Thank you!
Cutting paper makes me think of ending something. I think your being sent to the wrong place (can't find the counter and being told the wrong name), the talk of a foreign country (Canada), ayour swearing in a foreign language for you (English), and the escalator not going the right way all have to do with you feeling that you don't belong or you are in a situation that isn't right for you. Your being in the departure hall and cutting the paper yourself could represent you taking charge of your situation and ending it yourself.
I believe that most of our dreams are meant to feedback to let the dreamer know how he or she is progressing psychologically or spirituality. A feedback dream is typically filled with symbols. Most of the dreams that I look at have numerous symbols from the collective unconscious. The collective unconscious is the source of archetypes. These archetypes can show themselves in our dreams as symbols. A symbol can be almost anything. It can be an object, a person, an animal, a plant or even an event. This is how a Jungian would interpret a dream. The “you” in this dream probably represents your ego. Going to the store to buy something is often a good sign in a dream. This is because the things that we get in the dream world are things that are added to our non-physical selves. Contrary to what we might think, the color black is often a very good sign in a dream. This is because black is associated with the unconscious and the unknown. Thus, the purchase of black paper would mean an increased skill, ability or awareness in either or both of those areas. Anything that increases the dreamer’s awareness and knowledge of the darkness is very good. As Carl Jung said, “Enlightenment is not imagining figures of light, but making the darkness conscious.” You go to the Canadian side of the store. Canada is apparently a foreign country to the dreamer. In a Jungian approach to dream analysis, a journey to a foreign land can symbolize a journey to the depths of the collective unconscious. This is good. You ask for Laura but her name seems to be Ellora. The names of people in our dreams can have special meanings. • The name Laura comes from the word “laurel” which probably refers to the Bay Laurel. The first association that I have with the laurel is the wreath of laurels. o In Greek mythology, Apollo is represented wearing a laurel wreath on his head. o In ancient Greece wreaths were awarded to victors, both in athletic competitions, including the ancient Olympics made of wild olive-tree known as "kotinos" (κότινος),[1] (sc. at Olympia) and in poetic meets; o In Rome they were symbols of martial victory, crowning a successful commander during his triumph. o In common modern idiomatic usage it refers to a victory. The expression "resting on one's laurels" refers to someone relying entirely on long-past successes for continued fame or recognition, where to "look to one's laurels" encourages an individual to take inspiration from past achievements to conquer a fresh task. All of these are from Laurel wreath - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia And without too much effort other associations with the laurel and the laurel wreath can be found. • Now for the name Ellora – o The name is given to the cave temples of India. Ellora Caves - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia o Elora may be a truncated form of the name Eleonora. as a girl's name is a variant of Eleanor (Greek) and Helen (Greek), and the meaning of Eleonora is "sun ray, shining light". Elora: Meaning Of Name Elora | Nameberry.com o Ellora comes from the Indian word which means, "Clouds." Greek word which means, "Light." Ellora | Meaning of Ellora Name The names Laura and Ellora seem to have positive meanings. If we take a Jungian approach to this dream, then the two men are probably symbols of the dreamer’s animus. The animus is an archetype and is only found in the psyche (and thus the dreams) of women. The animus has four possible stages of development. 1. At the first stage, he is the physical man. At his best he is the hero who is like a protector. At his worst he is a brute who takes what he wants. 2. At the second stage, he is either the romantic man or the man of action. He could be the kind of man that we see on the cover of romance novels or he might be an outdoorsman such as a hunter. 3. At the third stage, he is the “man with a message.” A typical third stage animus would be a teacher, a politician or a preacher. 4. At the fourth and final stage, the animus becomes a guide. He helps the dreamer find her way through the mazes of the collective unconscious. Although identifying his stage of development can be a little tricky, it looks like he is at the first stage although the fourth is also possible. The fourth stage would be consistent with their telling you to go downstairs. This is because downward movement is often a symbol of a journey to the depths of the unconscious. Such a journey almost always a very good sign. Additionally, violent, rude or disgusting men in woman’s dream could represent unresolved issues with these types of men in the dreamer’s waking life. The archetype of the woman is more difficult to categorize. She could be the shadow or perhaps the wise old woman archetype but neither of these seem to fit in this dream. Sometimes a dream person will symbolize a pagan god, goddess or a similar person. There can be little hints that help us to identify any dream “deity.” It might be the physical appearance of the person, his or her clothing, miscellaneous animals, objects etc. You take the escalator. It “is actually a roller coaster going upside down.” Thus, you see the world from a different perspective. Some might argue that it is only by being upside down that we see the world as it really is. Being upside down reminds me of a Tarot card called The Hanged Man. Many Tarot enthusiasts associate this card with the Norse deity Odin. “Odin hung upside down from the world-tree, Yggdrasil, for nine days to attain wisdom and thereby retrieved the runes from the Well of Wyrd, which in Norse cosmology is regarded as the source and end of all sacred mystery and knowledge. The moment he glimpsed the runes, he died, but the knowledge of them was so powerful that he immediately returned to life.” The Hanged Man (Tarot card) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (There is also a long-standing tradition that the Apostle Peter was crucified upside-down.) Thus, when the men tell you that you need to go downstairs, they may be telling you that you need to become like Odin. Like him, there would be a price for accessing the unknown. And, as you may know, Odin is the patron god of shamanism. When you get downstairs, you see that it is a departure hall. Thus, it looks like your animus wants you to leave without getting any black paper. It may be that the upside down journey means that it is already yours – that is, it (or whatever it symbolizes) is may be a part of your psyche. As the dream closes, you go back upstairs and start cutting the paper yourself. Thus, your ego is taking the initiative for your further development. Although there were some frustrating times in the dream, I believe that it ended on a positive note. Hope this helps.
