Last night I dreamt of a big reunion party. (In fact, we had a reunion party in awake life only two weeks ago and it was a success, so the reunion theme is easily explained.) In the dream 'though, I arrived at the party and instantly went to the ladies room. In the ladies room there was a door out onto a patio with garden furniture that only visitors to the ladies room could access. The ladies room was enormous with lots of cubicles and lots of women. There was a group of girls who discussed why we had chosen to hold the reunion at this particular location and not another, more appropriate location. There were women skipping the queue and lots of weird stuff going on.

I sensed I had been in the ladies' forever and when I got out of there I noticed that the big ball room where the party was supposed to be held was in fact divided into cubicles too. It looked like a big fair with stalls and faux walls, and in the stalls there where set tables and chairs. I walked around looking for guests but only saw one or two elderly couples, sitting on their own. Suddenly there was staff that started to fold away table cloths and empty tables. The party was already over. The guests had just come and left again.

The atmosphere of the dream was sad. I had looked forward to talk to a special person, and when I came out of the ladies' he had already left with the others.

Maybe not a particularly dramatic dream, but still...I suppose it must mean something? The place, the people and the turn of events does not remotely remind me of the awake life reunion that I attended.

Do you ever feel like your missing something in life? I think there's an old expression--"Missed the party."

Why did you first go to the ladies room? Did you have to go in reality?

Do you think the women that skipped the queue got to go to the party? One possible theme could be you feel you have or are waiting too long for something.

The atmosphere of the dream made you sad. Can you think of anything that relates to the atmosphere of the dream--characters, location, elderly people, ladies, etc. in your waking life that makes you sad?

    You are right

    Hi,
Sorry that I took so long to respond (my e-mail notification seem to have stopped alerting me of responses.)

Yes, you are right, of course. Yes, I do feel like life has some what passed me by. Sometimes I wonder what I have been doing all these years, but in fact I have been working and working and working. I supposed the dream was both about whining guests in the Ladies' complaining about how the party was organized (and I was, as always the organizer) whilst never taking one second to think that someone else had taken all the trouble to arrange things for them (a situation very often occurring in my awake life), and, about me always having "duties to do first" - before I actually do the things that are closest to heart for me. And when the time comes to do the things that would matter for me personally, it is sometimes too late. Therefore the sadness, I guess.

Whoa Karin. I do understand. Perhaps its time to switch places and take your turn to be waited on and let someone else make the arrangements.
