I would like to understand and know what I am experiencing, but not sure what it falls under. A few times a week, right before I wake up in the morning, I experience a body-vibration, loud noise (few seconds), or a loud boom which lasts a few seconds, it feels like an earthquake to my body or I vibrate and then I wake up. I am not afraid, I can move, not a paralysis, but I am not fully conscious. I look around and check my 4 dogs on the bed, and they don't recognize it and are sound asleep, so I know it is not an earthquake or a noise in the building/house. I usually lay back down and go back to sleep. This happens a lot so I want to find out what it is and how to learn from it. If you could help me put a name on it so I can read up. Thank you! Meredith
I think this is just a half-way stage you experience between sleeping and waking, when your brain isn't exactly sure if you are asleep or awake. Some people hear a loud noise or their name being called before they wake up.
Could I ask what you are doing the night before when this happens, or does it happen every night? I mean do you go out drinking or something similar before you go to bed, or are you completely sober when you go to sleep and this happens? Hope I'm not being too nosey?
