    So I had this dream last night that seemed to last forever. I usually know that I'm dreaming during a dream, but I was really surprised when I woke up this morning. Anyway, I am walking down a paved road with nothing but a backpack. One the way I reach different towns where everyone is just walking around. In the second(i think) town I get really hungry, but I can't find any money in my pack. I see this man selling apples(which I hate btw) and I beg him to give me one. He refuses but says that I can trade him my shoes for three apples. I agree and continue down the road in my socks. I eat the apples and put the cores in my bag. The road becomes really rocky and I scratch up my feet really badly and they begin to bleed. So I sit down on the side of the road to rest, but the sun gets really hot and it unbearable. Then out of nowhere comes the man that traded me the apples. I ask him for my shoes back, but he shakes his head and says that its against his company policy to give traded things back. So I yell out 'what am I suppose to do?' and he looks at me like it obvious. He takes out the apple cores from my bag and wipes the blood from my feet on them. Then he sticks them in the ground and they sprout into a huge apple tree. He pulls off some leaves and tells me to make new shoes out of them....then I wake up. Super weird, huh?

    I think the theme of the dream is patience and survival, Are you at the right balance? Are you sacrificing one obstacle for another? Would it be best to wait for something?

    The title you have chosen for your dream can suggest that in general, the dream could be seen by you as reflecting the idea of getting somewhere in life. The dream itself suggests a situation in which you are following a losing course of action, one where you are using a course of action that has been prepared for you (walking down a paved road) and on which you may be a carrying burdensome baggage - perhaps “emotional baggage”?. (a backpack) You may be “going to town” (I reach different towns) – i.e. making the most of a situation in which an aspect of yourself could be making a central issue of the idea of making progress. (towns where everyone is just walking around) Or – perhaps the central issue is literally the idea of “walking”. (Note how walking from town to town involves a lot of walking.)

    In what could be regarded as a negative aspect of this going to town (In the second(i think) town) you acquire a hunger or desire for food for thought that will provide emotional satisfaction but the mental ability that would let you afford this is absent.( can't find any money) There is an aspect of your own mind that could sell you on the idea of the apple. (I see this man selling apples)

    The apple can simply represent the idea of “the fruit”, i.e. the results that come of one’s efforts. As the apple is associated with the Garden of Eden, it can also be used in dreams to represent the idea of “knowledge”. The apple might also represent literally the idea of eating apples. In exchange for good or Godly knowledge (three apples) you are required to relinquish your acquired understanding – that which comes from exposure to knowledge and experiences. (trade him my shoes) You continue on your course of action but now appearing as “a tenderfoot” – as someone lacking in experience. (continue down the road in my socks) While you may get emotional satisfaction from the idea of knowledge or the idea of results (I eat the apples), core, central or basic knowledge seems to be relegated to burdensome baggage. (put the cores in my bag)

    The rocky road can simply imply that the path or walk of life you have chosen is not smooth or easy. The rocks themselves can represent the eternal truths of God - His Laws and His principles. Where such truths are encountered you could see yourself making a sacrifice to your instinctive understanding (scratch up my feet really badly and they begin to bleed) but this happens because you are shoeless , that is, because you do not have the necessary acquired knowledge and experience. You seem to chose to rest at ease regarding your course of action (I sit down on the side of the road) But, the “heat is on” – there is a perceived pressure from the Lord and His intelligence (the sun gets really hot) that makes a resting at ease position or attitude unbearable.

    Your own mind (the man) will not allow you to go back to using your former understanding. (against his company policy to give traded things back) You are questioning your next move, one that seems obvious from a mental perspective. The first move is to eliminate any sign of having made a sacrifice of instinctive understanding. (wipes the blood from my feet on them) The next is to cultivate core or basic knowledge (sticks apple cores in the ground) which then becomes a more massive body of knowledge (a huge tree) which itself will bear fruit or results. (a huge apple tree ) The tree itself – which can be associated with Scripture and the Tree of Knowledge – may refer specifically to spiritual and psychological knowledge – knowledge which leads upwards toward God. The leaves as used here, may simply refer to aspects or ideas that come from a base of knowledge from which you can fashion a new kind of understanding and experience. (He pulls off some leaves and tells me to make new shoes out of them) {It is interesting that in Scripture Adam covered his nakedness with a leaf. Could the dream be suggesting you might regard your instinctive understanding (the shoeless feet) as if it suggested a similar nakedness?}

    Thank you very much for your replies. Your interpretation is brilliant. Who knew that my subconscious could put together metaphors like that. :) The truth is I am at a kind of road in my life where I can’t decide what I want to do or be doing. I’ve changed my major 3 times, and nothing seems to be something that I can condemn myself to do for the rest of my life. Your very good at this.
