Hi all! I'm Patricia and I'm new. I've got a dream that needs interpreting and it's really strange. I thought maybe someone on here might help me.:help:

I'm in the house I grew up in, with a family, but most of them aren't my real family. For example, I have two sisters, but in reality, I don't have any sisters, only one brother. The only person who is familiar to me is my father, who is exactly as he is in reality, except for the curious fact that there seems to be two of him. No one thinks this is strange, and they walk around like they are two completely different people. No one makes any reference to the fact that they look exactly the same.
Well, I spend an evening with this family, and there are frequent references to something that happened in the past, and I have flashbacks featuring my father with extreme discoloration, spots and streaks and the like, on his skin and in his hair. At one time in the evening, I reach up and stroke my father's hair (a completely out of character action for me that I would not do in waking life) and comment that I actually liked him with the streaks in his hair. He laughs and we move on to a different topic.
The next day, one of my fathers walks in and says he's done something a little crazy. He takes off his hat and his hair is streaked and dyed. I am less than enthusiastic. Later, I have a vision...or not quite a vision, but it's as if I'm spying on someone, but my character in the dream isn't. Anyhow, I see my two fathers alone, and the one without dyed hair draws a knife on the one with dyed hair, but before he harms him, he throws away the knife and kisses him.:eek:mg:
Then later on, early evening before dinner, my father (the one with normal hair) jokingly challenges me to a knife fight while we're standing in the kitchen. I think he is kidding until he takes two steak knives out of the knife holder and walks into the garage. Feeling nervous and confused, I take two knives myself, one for chopping vegetables and a larger one for slicing bread. I walk out into the garage, but I don't see anyone there. Afraid that my dad will jump out unexpectedly, I watch my back as I look around. The bread knife feels too heavy for a knife fight, and I'm worried it'll slow me down if I actually need to defend myself, so I back away back into the kitchen and trade it for a smaller steak knife. I return to the garage and there's still no one in plain view. I call out for my dad, and he rises from behind a chair across the room. For some reason, he is holding a bunch of black cats. (we had many of them around the house when I was growing up) He approaches in a menacing way and I reach out and cut him on the arm. He gasps, but doesn't reciprocate. However, he doesn't move and I'm extremely on edge, so I continue to deliver small cuts and stabs to his hands and forearms. He makes noise, even yelling in pain, but only occasionally brings up his knives as if to attack, and he never makes any sudden moves towards me.

I am starting to stop, and that's when I wake up.

Any idea what it could mean? I'm really confused.

    Hi, and Welcome!

Some of the stuff in this dream made me laugh.

So, you have two dads, one with weird hair. The normal haired one challenges the one with weird hair to a knife fight but kisses him instead. Then the normal haired dad challenges you to a knife duel, but ends up holding cats while you attack him.

Consider your relationship with your dad. Do you wish he were attentive and humorous? Do you feel you don't get enough attention from him? The part where you stab him may be your attempt at getting a reaction out of him, or some sort of attention. Was he still holding the cats? Cats are a symbol of independence. Is he too independent and not spending as much time with the family as you'd like?
