Hi everyone, my first time posting. Ive had quite alot of strange things happen to me. Most spiritual people I meet and converse with tell me that I am very open to these sorts of things, and that I myself am very spiritual.

First Instance was when I was about 14-15 it was christmas morning 3 am before we woke to open presents, my parents were at an orphanage dropping off gifts. I was lying AWAKE.. watchin tv too anxious to be asleep. Suddenly, could not move .. I heard the tv, my eyes were open, but I could not move at all . I panicked, because this had never happened to me before. I am not sure I imagined what happened next, but I started to hear someone laugh, not that from the tv, but more like right above me. Scared the hell out of me. when i was 'released' if you will i went into the living room and turned on cartoons (I was young lol). I was so scared. This happened more than 30 times to me since and im 20 now. I dont know what this is, and im not so quick to call it demonic persuasion, or say there were spirits presence.. Anymore at least. Because I know this happened to my mother and my father and my sister before , my sister heard voices as well, my dad and mom consider it a spirit encounter. Meanwhile after doing some research.. other contacts call it loss of circulation, but that doesnt sound quite right either. Too scientific and too the point, and it didnt convince me. SO one afternoon when I was 19, i was lying in my bed in my apartment, I had not been sleep in two days... I dont know if I was avoiding sleep at the time or what So this could have been part sleep deprivation but I doubt it , because this happened over and over again about 7 times within 20 minutes. I was lying there trying not to go to sleep. But all of a sudden I could not move.... It was strange, because I could hear myself snoring, but my eyes were open.. I couldnt move them but they could see my ceiling. I was scared initially, but then I realized, my body musta collapsed because my mind was still working and my body was snoring, I could even hear it . I thought this could have been OBE but I never went anywhere, and I didnt see myself .

Another instance and this was definitely lucid dreaming

I had just looked up lucid dreaming because something had caught my eye.. So i said maybe ill say to myuself tha tonight im going to have a lucid dream, doubting it would work. SO the next night I went to bed, and had a dream I was at the mansion of the rolex maker .. I was best friends with their daughter.. And I realized my friends mother was attracted to me. Now I am in no way bisexual or lesbian but suddenly it was appealing. Unfortunately something woke me from my dream. But consciencly I remembered lucid dreaming and told myself as I settled back down into sleep to go back to my dream, and I could feel myself coming back to that awareness. It was SO AWESOME... it was like trying something and crossing your fingers hoping it works.. i settled back into the dream not perfectly, it was broken up a bit, but It yielded results... Needless to say I was just about to get involved with my friends mother.. but sleep was useless the cat kept waking me.. but i now know that Lucid dreaming is possible for me And I hope to enjoy another one sooon. Only thing is, I dont know where this scenario came from. Oh well.. Any comments ?

    Hi defdegree.

The first thing you talked about, where you are awake but can't move and sometimes hear voices or see things, is called sleep paralysis. It happens because when you fall asleep, your body enters temporary paralysis so you don't act out your dreams physically and maybe injure yourself or people around you. With sleep paralysis, your body and mind go out of synch. Either you become paralyzed before you go completely unconscous, or you start to wake up before the paralysis wears off. It is not uncommon. You can hallucinate a bit because you're not really fully awake. I have experienced it, as well as Maljonic and some other people who have posted here. By the way, yours is a classic case. This is the first time someone has posted here with a strange dreaming/sleep experience and I could tell right away exactly what it was, without having to think about it. It makes sense that it happens to other members of your family, since your brains probably work similarly, and may have the same little 'glitches.'

I think it's great that you were able to dream lucidly the first time you tried it.
