I just had a dream that I went to see a house that was slightly outside the city limits. My husband was with me and we had to cross a bridge to get there. In the dream this was a house that we'd looked at before but decided against because it was to far from our daily activities. However, we felt drawn to the house and just wanted to go look at it. When we arrive a girl whom I work with is there. Very odd because we are not close at all and rarely see each other because we work opposite shifts. I also don't particularly make a point to be involved with her because she's very materialistic and we have nothing in common. She says she's there looking for a place to stay. We begin exploring the house and it looks a normal size on the outside but is gigantic inside. For some reason there are kitchens everywhere. Most rooms even have a sink and stove if they are not a full kitchen. A very large family lives here. Many children's rooms. I open a closet that has little bunk beds staked up for dolls. Some areas seem to need work. I talk about replacing some carpet with hardwood floors and little odds and ends that need attention. The man who lives there says the place is only a year old, which seems hard to believe. I remember a bathroom that has a dirty tub. There is a huge family room that many people are in and everyone seems happy. I walk into a quaint "board room" with a few military officials but quickly leave as I feel I have intruded. There is a large fountain type pool that has moving statues of mermaids and dolphins. I am excited to be in the water and a wave knocks me down as water engulfs me but I'm not afraid. I feel exhilarated and almost reborn. At some point I become aware that I'm dreaming and have the overwhelming desire to kiss someone. I kiss the girl who is with me, feel guilty for a second but know it's a dream and that on some level she represents a part of me and kissing myself can't be to bad. Then I try to think of what I should do since I know I'm dreaming. I can't come up with anything exciting so I begin a sexual encounter with my husband. Then my dog starts barking and I wake up.
Let me add that the mermaids and dolphins were actually more like bronze sculptures instead of statues.
Are you looking for a house in waking life as well? It's hard to tell from your post. If you are, then that part of the dream would reflect real life. However, house in a dream often represents your self. Crossing a bridge can represent a transition from one phase of your life to another. The fact that you felt drawn to the house even though it was far from your daily activities could mean that you are ready for a change. You say you don't usually get involvd with the girl in your dream because she is materialistic. Perhaps this dream is telling you that you need to be more in touch with the side of you that needs things. Kitchens are a source of nourishment, so the dream could be a message that you need to "nourish" yourself more. Water in a dream can represent the emotions, and the "nourishment" you require could be physical, emotional and/or sexual - the last part of the dream.
