I was at "work". But it wasn't the company I am at now. A huge office, lots of space and light, wide long corridors. The walls were a "peachy" colour. Someone came to me (i knew him in my dream but have no idea who it was) and said "Come and look at all the donations for you. Look at all the wonderful gifts". I walked out of my office and all down the long wide passage were boxes and bags of stuff. All sorts of things. Even in the "open plan" area. and people were clapping for me.

Then things suddenly changed. It was dark and I was in a white 1400 little bakkie (think americans refer to a bakkie as a "truck") with Dennis (my husband) driving. I heard something rattling, like a screw coming loose. We started down a hill that goes under a bridge, quite a steep long downhill. And I heard the screw come loose and bounce away a few times on the road. I said to Dennis "Don't we need that?" He replied and said "nah, it was nothing serious". Suddenly we were nearly at the bottom of the hill and Dennis said he couldn't brake or turn the steering wheel. I started to panic but then became calm and I pulled up the handbrake making the bakkie slow down. And that's when I woke up. I don't know if we stopped or had a crash.

Gifts in a dream often represent the "gifts" you have - your positive qualities. It sounds like being "at work" could have to do with making things work, that is, using your gifts to get something done as it should be. Your subconscious (represented by the man in the dream) is telling you that you have the ability to manage the problems in your life.

The second part of the dream shows that you are in control. When the bakkie goes out of control, you are the one who takes over to ensure that nobody gets hurt. It seems like you might feel like your husband is a bit irresponsibile and doesn't pay attention when things are going wrong, or denies that things are going wrong, until it's too late. It's interesting that you wake up before the dream ends and you can be sure you didn't crash. Maybe the dream is telling you that you always feel like you have to take charge, but ultimately, there are things you have no control over.

By the way, a dream about driving (or being a passenger) often tells you about how much control you have over your life. You can read more at https://www.dreaming.life/dream-themes/travel-dreams.htm
