So, I see several light green-winged moths flying close to me. They do not bother me for long though, and they move on to ground. There, one of them is caught by a green praying mantis which eats it. I am disgusted by the presence of the mantis, and grabing it's back end with the tip of two fingers, throw it as far away as possible. It sunks in a nearby river. I then notice in the far distance a city. It is night and it's buildings are lit. I like the scene, despite not having much time to appreciate it.
The moth and the mantis both reflect aspects of your own emotional nature from which come feelings inclining you to “bug” or annoy yourself. The moth can indicate an emotional transformation that is not usually welcomed. They suggest an emotional transformation that can have devastating effects upon a human’s way of functioning and their behaviour (since they are known to eat silk and wool of which clothing is made). In this scene the transformation is seen as one that “flies”, suggesting it could reflect a workable feeling as well as being one the Lord supports (since they are flying in air). Here it does not become a bother to you. In fact a feeling that could be bugging you can be seen to rest on solid grounds of reasoning. (they move onto the ground) In other words, there are grounds for – reasons for – justifying this type of bugging. The light green colouring indicates there is some intelligence in the feeling you could be bugging yourself about. While it is a worldly feeling (green) it is not intensely so (it is not a strong, deep green) The “praying” mantis can indicate that the issue your emotional nature is annoying you about is the issue of prayer. Here this bugging yourself about prayer is seen reflecting a worldly way of thinking (a green mantis) but which exists at the expense of a feeling which does not associate with prayer. (mantis eats moth) Grabbing the mantis by its back end, can suggest putting your fingers on the feeling – remembering the idea of prayer from its past perspective. [Have there been many unanswered prayers?] When doing this you try to put as much distance as possible between a feeling associated with prayer and yourself. It ends up being assigned to a legitimate spiritual course of action. (in a river) Because the mantis sinks in the river, it is implied that while prayer does belong to a spiritual course of action, bugging yourself about the issue is not supported by God’s spiritual thinking in your situation. [Probably because you have good reason not to pray.] You then take note of a subject area or situation in which man-made thinking predominates and carries a lot of weight or influence (a city), one you would not see yourself closely associated with. Here this would probably relate to the issue of prayer. The lit buildings indicate that some intelligence appears to emanate from this man-made thinking even though it does leave you still in the dark, meaning lacking in knowledge. You have a little time to appreciate this intelligence but not for too long.
Thank you for replying, and apologies for my own reply taking so long. Marcia: In the dream I am disgusted by the Mantis as I would be disgusted by any insect (nothing out of the ordinary here). I am not particularly fond of them. ElizVanZee: I find your interpreation interesting but at the same time not - for lack of a better term - 'precise' enough. I do not hold religious beliefs in the traditional sense, and I consider 'spirituality' to fall within them. Anything that could be considered a 'prayer' is probably just introspection.
