The dream takes place in the future. Global warming is here and pollution and flood waters are everywhere. People have to row to work. I float by a mountain range and part of it has been eroded away and resembles dark clay. We also have cloaking devices in the future and someone uses a cloaking device to change the landscape of the mountain range to its former splendor.

I'm living in a house with several other people, a different family. It may be part of the strange futuristic reality I'm living in, Strangers having to live under one roof because of scarcity and lack of resources. It contains several women and teenagers. One of them is blonde and hazel eyes and he's wearing a dress, as if he's dressed up for a costume party. I plant a kiss right on his lips. He was not expecting it, but recieved it with pleasure.

In another scene, I'm with a group of women and I go to a garage and a man that's seven feet tall retrieves some barrels of oil for us. I notice his fingers are extremely wide and round with bandages on the ends from having been burned in the past. One arm is deformed and shorter than the other.

Then I'm standing on a porch that's sitting just above water and see an insect that resembles a red angel fish and it crawls up a web and eats (a spider?) I fear getting one caught in my hair as I wave my hands through my hair and shake my head.

Many people have been assigned jobs rather than choosing their own careers. Armed gaurds watch over workers and dictate to them when they can leave. A female boss threatens her crew and says that anyone who cracks a joke or wastes time on the job will be forced to work extra hours. I observe this in a cellar where people are weaving blankets. Some men begin to give her a hard time and she in turn assigns them extra hours but they don't care.

In the meantime, people are dying from toxins in the air. A woman begs a man to let her see her family one last time. She fears she is dead and wants to come back through a crack in time and space to see her family and the man has the technology to do this.

    end

Do you think it's your own wishes and fears mixed in with the backdrop of general fears broadcast by the media? I don't mean your fears and wishes about global warming.

Yes. Other than global warming, a more immenent threat seems to be our government is now considering attacking Iran. I wonder if I or anyone else I know is truely prepared for a nuclear disaster or attack or some other type of calamity. I wonder if our country is heading into despotism and if I and other "liberals" would be inprisoned and forced to do hard labor.

These fears may seem unrealistic to some, but not to a lot of Americans. We are learning about secret prisons around the world where the CIA rounds up innocent people mistaken for terrorists and flies them to prisons to be tortured. We've lost a lot of our liberties since the terrorist attacks on Sep. 11, 2001. The government can now search your home, your mail, and listen in on your phone calls without a warrent.

Bush has said "there ought to be limits to freedom." He is also the guy that talks about bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq. Their media is U.S. government controlled.

Well Mal, you did ask.

I know what you mean, and I knew all this would happen as soon as I saw those planes crash into the towers. I was living with this guy called Darryl at the time and I told him he had no idea how far reacing the effects would be (he made some dumb quip about Americans deserving it), and that it would be particularly bad for Islamic people if it turned out to be a terror attack in the name of Islam, which it did. It's not just the wars it's caused, it's all the paranoid feelings created about anyone "different" and the trash media fuelling the feelings, and the trash governments responding to the public fears - it's all a viscious circle.

I always used to say when I was younger that we need a good scary alien invasion from another world to bring us all together. I'm not so sure about that now, I think some people are just nuts and would want to blow each other up anyway, regardless of the Temporal Lobe Slurpers from beyond infinity coming to conquer our planet.

Still, I don't think it's ever quite so bad as we think, not on a personal level unless you have family directly involved. If you never watched the news on TV or read any newspapers there might not be that much difference with your day-to-day life. :)
