For the past probably week, I have been dreaming about a total stranger (I actually met a guy who looked and sounded like the guy in my dream yesterday  ) The first couple days he was just kind of there, not quite doing anything. Then the one dream I had he ended up rescuing me and my pets(posted about it on here) The next night, I dreamed that he was hugging me and we were on a beach just walking and the name Andrew kept coming up, I never let people I don't know hug me and I don't go to the beach, I can't even remember the last time I was at one. Then I can't remember the dream, but the night before last I had a dream with the guy in it. He was standing behind a counter with me at a restaurant and we were serving a bunch of different people. The last night I dreamed we were sitting under a huge tree on top of a hill just looking out across a meadow, he was just holding me in his arms and we were talking but I have no recllection of what we were talking about. Everytime I dream and he is in it, there is always a safe, calm, tone to the dream at some point. The weird part is I did meet a guy who looked and sounded like the guy yesterday, he works at a resturant (very much like the one I was working in in my dream) and he suggested I apply for a job there, he was also called Andrew. Is there any possible meaning to this guy being in my dreams, before I even met him?
Are you female? if so, the guy in your dream could be your animus the "masculine" part of you that is strong and assertive. Since your dreams involve being rescued and being held, the dream could be about you finding the strength inside yourself to cope with a difficult situation. It could have to do with a need for you to feel protected and loved. When you say you met a guy who looked and sounded like the guy in your dream, what were the similarities between them? Have you ever heard of confirmation bias? That's when we want something to be true, so we only pay attention to the things that make it appear true. So if, unconsciously, you wated this guy in your dreams to be real, you would mostly notice the things about guys in real life that are similar to qualities of your dream guy. You would ignore the things that make them different. The fact that you let the guy in your dreams hug you, and you don't like strangers hugging you, shows that you felt extremely familiar with him, which makes sense if he is really part of you. Is the name Andrew a common name where you live? Do you know any Andrews, other than the guy at the restaurant? If so, do they have any qualities that stand out for you? Is there any particular quality that Andrew at the restaurant has that stands out for you? Had you Andrew at the restaurant before you started having the dreams? Did you know he was called Andrew before you started having the dreams? Is it possible you overheard someone saying his name but didnt' consciously remember it?
I agree with Marcia on this dream referring to the animus. It is quite often an unconscious part of you so starts out as a stranger. As you come to know your masculine side the dream character will become more familiar. As Marcia says, it is the assertive, strong side of you. The power within you that you have to save yourself, to look after yourself. This character seems to tick all the boxes in my mind. The location of the beach reinforces this in my mind, the place where unconscious (ocean) meets conscious (land). He is your knight in shining armour - and he is also you. If it were me, I would not see this guy as the man of your dreams because of this, but nor would I discredit him. Take him on his merits and see what happens. It is an exciting romantic adventure.
