Ok. Hi everyone, this is my first post and I'm not sure if anyone has posted anything about this yet, I tried searching for it but I couldn't find it. Two years ago my dad went to Japan on military business. My mom, my sister, and I went to my grandmas house to stay with her for the weekend. We usually went to visit her every other weekend. Well, after we got home my mom told us a story of what happened while we were staying there. My mom was asleep and while she was asleep she said she felt like the bed was being shaken. For the record my grandmas is old and spooky. My mom said that it shook once and then stopped and a moment later it shook even harder, like someone was trying to wake her up or there was an earthquake. Then she said someone whispered "I'm ok" in her ear. She woke up startled and went to see if we woke up too. At the time she didn't know who it was but after she woke up startled and talked to my grandma about it she realized it was my dad. My grandma, being the traditional, old Hispanic lady instantly blamed it on evil spirits and the devil but my mom said it felt benevolent and kind. Later that day my dad called and told us that there was an earthquake in the region of Japan he was in. He said he was fine and not to worry about him. We turned on the news and there was an earthquake. And somehow my mom felt it too. I want to know if there was some sort of astral, spiritual connection here or if my mom imagined the entire thing. Thanks
I don't think there is any way to prove that there was an astral connection. I'm not sure what you mean by her "imagining the whole thing". Unless she is the type of person who makes up stories that aren't true, I think that she probably did hear a voice and probably did feel the bed shake. She experienced these sensations and they were real to her. Earthquakes are common in Japan, so it's possible that your mom was concerned about your dad getting involved in an earthquake. And if your dad was stationed in a region that was earthquake prone, it wouldn't be so unusual for him to be involved in an earthquake after she dreamed about what felt like an earthquake, since she was worried about him. Maybe you could do some research on how often that area experiences earthquakes. Before he left, your mom and dad could also have been talking about the possibility of him being in an earthquake without you knowing about it. Also, since she was home alone while you and your sister with at your grandma's, your mom may have been particularly nervous and suggestible, and worrying more than usual just from being home at night all by herself. (Your having a grandmother who talks about evil spirits and the devil probably isn't particularly comforting, either.) The voice saying "I'm OK" sounds like it could have been a part of her own mind comforting her.
