I was parachuting out of this small plane. I didn’t know exactly where I was but the city below me was very green and lush(I live in a desert so this is different for me). I landed in a vacant lot in the middle of a residential area. I hit the ground faster than I thought I would and hurt my leg; nothing too bad but it hurt to walk on. I ditched the parachute and began to run through the nearest alley. I’m not sure where I was going, but I knew that I had to get there fast. I ran past this big yard that had a tall chain-link fence when I heard someone yell for me to “stop, come back”. I turned around but there was no one there. I was about to leave when again I heard a quiet voice say. “wait, come here” That’s when I noticed a dog behind the fence staring at me. I walked up to the fence and looked into the yard trying to find the source of the voice. Then the dog stood on his hine-legs and put his paws against the fence to hold himself up so that we were at eye level(It was a pretty big dog. Like a great dane or something). He looked straight at me and said, “there’s no one here but me.” I was so shocked that I nearly fell over. There was no way that a dog could be talking to me, and I told him so. He asked me what other explanation I could come up with. So I told him that there must be a human around here somewhere who was throwing his voice, but I couldn’t find one . I gave up and went back to the dog that was sitting patiently at the edge of the fence. So I reasoned with him. If he was a dog that could talk, what was he doing in someone’s backyard wearing a flea collar? He told me that his ability to speak was a secret. So I asked him why he had revealed himself to me? I was just a girl running through an alley of a town I didn’t even know the name of. He told me that he wanted to warn me. That got my attention. He told me that I should turn around and go back. I asked him why, but he wouldn’t tell me. I thought about it for a moment. I didn’t even know where I was going, but I suddenly got that sense of urgency again that I needed to get moving. I thanked the dog for the warning, but told him that I had decided to keep going. He replied that it was my decision and wished me luck. So I kept running. I eventually got what I guess was the down-town area of the city. Lots of tall buildings and people. I stopped and looked around. I spotted a guy who was about my age with dark hair across the street and ran up to him. He looked surprised to see me, and asked who I was. I told him my name and that I was going with him(I still had no idea where, but I was just kinda going with my impulses). He stared at me for a moment and then said “okay”. I followed him to this large building that looked like a fancy hotel. We walked up to the front desk and my dark-haired friend told them that he was expected. The clerk led us to a banquet hall where some sort of formal party was going on. When we walked in everyone stopped and stared at us. They were all in tuxedoes and long gowns with glasses of champagne and wine. An older man in a tux walked up to us and exclaimed that finally we had arrived. My friend apologized that it took him so long to get there, but the man told him that he was here now and that’s what mattered. Then he turned to the guests and announced that the moment they had been waiting for had arrived. Smiling proudly, he pulled a hand gun out of his jacket and pointed it at my dark-haired friend. Before I even knew what I was doing I jumped in front of him as the gun went off. I fell to the floor. I heard the man say, “Well this was unexpected.”. Then there was another gunshot and I heard my friend scream in pain and fall next to me. It took me a moment to realize that I was not bleeding even though I had been hit in the chest. I sat up and saw a bullet lying next to me. I picked it up as my friend also sat up. It was made of rubber. I looked up at the man in the tuxedo and asked, “Why”? I woke up. Anyone have any idea what this could mean?
It seems like this dream might be expressing some fears you have about doing something new. The scenery is different than what you are used to. The dog is different (a talking dog.) The dog is warning you about something - dogs represent loyalty, so the dog could represent the part of you that doesn't want things to change. The man you meet and befriend could represent a new side of you that you aren't used to. The fact that you get shot but don't actually get hurt might mean that even though you are anxious, you still have hope that things will turn out alright.
