I once had a nightmare about a 6ft squirrel with a bowler hat on chasing me around my house trying to find out where I had hid its nuts.

Dont think any less of me because i'm a freak!

I'm going to have to get an avatar, something screamingly symbolic.

My dreams are directed, produced, done in techicolor, surround sound, and have extemely detailed settings and props. I am a Viet Nam Era Vet and to this day, 30 yrs later I STILL have this dream that someone arrives at the door and hands me a letter saying that I have been called back up to service.

Lately, with all the war on the news, most all of my dreams have been military in theme, but very close to home. I dream that the war is coming here to home turf and that I am setting up guerilla units to fight in the streets. Everything is aimed at organizing the community to get ready to defend our homes. The dreams are so active and realistic that I wake up exhausted sometimes as if I have really been doing all these things that I dream of. I have never been one much for premonition dreams, so I hope these are just anxiety and not one of those things that comes in fours, what is it? Oh, yeah, foreboding, that's the bunny.

Do you mean you were in the army? I have lots of dreams about war and bombs and such like; but I've never been directly involved in any conflicts...

I don't think taking acid really affects your dreams that much, it's more the other way around; if you take acid it's the kinds of things you dream about that comes to the surface while you are tripping. It is for this reason that I am afraid of mind altering drugs...

    In the Army!

Yes, I am a Viet Nam Era vet and served my overseas tour of duty in South Korea. Nearly all of the people I served with in Korea were returnees from Viet Nam. I have one of those friendly faces that invites conversation and these guys needed to talk.

Listening to the war first hand day after day for over a year had a deep affect on my dream life. I think to overcome the horrors embedded in my mind, my dream life made up these stories of survival. For most of the last 30 years I've had two different war dreams. Either I am a guerrilla fighter and having a great adrenalyn rush of a time hounding the enemy (good self esteem dream) or I have the recalled to active duty (sometimes alternated with I am on leave and can't remember when I'm due back or can't find tickets, something that makes me afraid of being AWOL) dreams where I end up in places like Antartica or the front line (sorry self esteem dream).

    Fun stuff, huh?

I certainly don't envy you, having been in a war I mean. I usually think of going to bed as been a bit like settling in for a good film; usually wake up laughing too :)

    Much the same here.

The war dreams are interspersed between the epic and the really odd. Last night I had climbed a mountain that was covered in an ancient forest. The people who lived on the mountain had built their homes to complement the mountain and forest, carving the dwellings (very ornate and beautiful) into the mountainside and terracing patios and outdoor areas in-between the trees and using the trees as building supports. It all seemed so perfectly compatible. My friend and I had climbed up ancient rock stairs to a dwelling that was a kind of B&B because he was looking for a job as a chef.

I waited on the hotel front terrace (lovely slate floor with low stone walls) and noticed that one of the huge trees had been fitted with a swing. Normally swings make me very seasick, but I sat down on this one and began to push back and forth without feeling at all uneasy. With a little body bending I was making the swing push higher and higher till my feet were swinging out over the neighbors roof top and I was going a full 180 degrees back and forth. It was marvelously exhilarating like flying.

Eventually I let the swing die down and went inside to see how my friend’s interview had gone. They had already hired him and given him a room to live in. Apparently he'd fixed a meal for them while I was outside and they'd hired him on the spot.

I would like to go back there tonight and see how he is doing. And swing on that swing again. It was a lot more fun that worrying about being drafted. :?

I know, me too, sometimes I look back at what I typed and there are mistakes everywhere! I had a dream with mountains and trees about a year ago. I climbed some mountains until I was nearly above the tree line, pretty high, and found a tribe of lost people who had somehow managed to build huts that harnessed the electricity from lightening. The huts seemed to channel the power from one to the other without any wires or cables; and there was lots of pretty ball lightening floating around. I think I was lucky to find them because they told me they are normally covered by some kind of shield that shuts them off from the normal world.

edit: P.S. are you the samed Annie that is a member here? Just wondering why you don't sign in or if you are a different person :)
