I had a nightmare last night, and i'm unsure of what it meant.

in the beginning of the dream i was walking along side a man who i didn't know. he said something (i don't remember exactly what) but i didn't answer because i wasn't sure he was talking to me. i looked over at him, just out of curiosity,and to see what he looked like. i still remember his face. then he said, "I said..." and repeated himself. it freaked me out so i started to casually walk across the street and he started to follow me. i completely panicked even more and sprinted to the store, he did too and he almost caught me. the people in the store called 911 and said that they knew about him. this wasn't the first time. the next sections of the dream i don't remember much of, just that i was definitely sure he was going to find me and the cops were trying to stop him. next i remember i was sitting on my couch, alone, with my backyard window behind me. i remember thinking that he was watching me through the backyard. i got up and just started to walk towards my staircase and told myself that i wasn't going to turn around because he was probably going to be there, but i did anyway. he was there outside the glass in a scream costume. i screamed and ran up the stairs, and screamed again because a couple of feet into my bedroom was another mask propped onto a fan, just like his little way of saying that he had been in there. i looked at my window to see that it was wide open (which meant that he'd gotten in through there) and people were sleeping soundly on my bed. the last thing i remember before waking up was looking out the window (which overlooks the backyard) to see my dad and the man..fighting i guess. i was sure that my dad was going to lose. i wanted to call 911 but was afraid that he'd find me because he'd hear my voice so i was too scared to call. i also remember thinking that there were so many people in the house but that no one would be able to help me.

i know its a long dream...but im really confused as to what it meant. if you can help me, please do. thanks in advance

The man in your dream sounds like he could be your shadow - the part of yourself that you don't like/that frightens you, and that you try to repress.

there is a good chance you are trying to rid yourself of something yet you don't really know what it is. him saying something but you not able remember anything from him is not at all uncommon. some say that these kind of dreams represent some part of your life that is falling out of order. i am assuming you are a female so I'll take a wild guess and say this guy is someone whom you may have had a crush on but found out something about him that disturbed you. or it may just be a part of you that you are trying to forget.
