I really want to try to understand something. Let me give you a back story:

A couple months ago, my dad had a very powerful dream two weeks before my grandfather (HIS dad) died. My dad's younger brother (my uncle) had died in 2006. Two weeks before my grandfather's death, my dad dreamed of his little brother (the dead uncle). He came to him as a young child. Everything was pitch black BUT my uncle. My dad said it was the clearest dream he had ever had in his entire life. My uncle kept saying, "So sad. So sad. It's going to hurt brother, it's going to hurt. So sad." And he vanished. Two weeks later, my grandpa died. My family believes maybe it was a message of warning. It all depends on what one believes in.

SO. My question. My boyfriend told me he dreamed of me, in a similar style. Everything was pitch black, but me. I was in a dress made by the heavens, it was a beautiful off-white/grey color. There was a slit in the dress that went all the way up to my hip, exposing my entire leg. He said I was practically glowing beautifully, like a goddess. I walked towards him, looking breathless. My boyfriend said that it was incredibly clear. Around me and in the blackness, was a blueish-green haze/mist. Then, I walked across water over to him. My boyfriend described that the water was barely visible, and only the ripples with reflection of the mist was seen.

What does this deep blackness mean? Both of these dreams were incredibly powerful. Can someone please help me understand the meaning behind the "black" dreams which only contain very little element beside the focus?

I think it could be the unconscious' way of telling you that the message of the dream is very important, and that you need to focus on that. On the other hand, the blackness could be covering up something that the dreamer is avoiding.

What does the dreamer think would happen if they looked away from the image they were supposed to be focusing on and tried to peer into the blackness?
