I rarely remember dreams, but last night I had a vivid dream that a white wolf came from the tree line behind my house through my backyard and instantly grabbed my beloved 17 year old cat in its mouth and just as quickly returned to the trees. But before that in my dream I went outside to check on my children and heard a bear/large cat grunting growl sound somewhere in my yard, but didn't see anything. It scared me and I rushed the kids into the house. As I stood and looked out my back door it is when the white wolf approached and snatched my unaware cat laying near my patio! I remember in my dream that I let out a deep, scream/ heartwrenching cry and when I went to cry in agony again no sound came out no matter how hard I tried.

My husband woke me from my dream saying that I was making a horrid, moaning and crying sound in my sleep!

Any ideas as to what this might mean?

Your cat and your children are things that depend on you and need your protection. I think in your dream, they represent a part of you that feels vulnerable. A wolf is a common danger symbol in dreams and in myths. So I think this dream means that you are feeling threatened by something and feel the need to be protected (like you would protect your cat and your children.) It's possible that you haven't noticed this in your waking life, but your unconscious mind is sensing a threat somewhere.
