Hello. Last night I had a this dream, and i was wondering if there might be any meaning behind it.

In the dream, I was a young man, (I'm actually a 23 year old woman) living on my own in a small town ( I actually live with my finance and a roommate in small city.) Anyhow, There was a girl in town that I liked, and I was pretty sure she liked me, but I knew her grandmother didn't like me too well. She thought I was flighty and not right in the head, and said so to her granddaughter.

Well, it then so happened that there was also a small river near town, and for whatever reason we needed to build a dam. There was a reason for needing to build a dam, I just wasn't told and honestly didn't really care, but as one of the local young strong men, I was asked to help build it.

When the other guys and I got to the river, the first thing the foreman did was put up signs banning swimming and he told all the townspeople and children that they weren't allowed to swim in it anymore while construction was going on. He then told us men to jump in and swim out to where we were building the Dam.

There was already an old abandoned beaver dam in the river, and we were going to build upon that. When setting up the dam though the first problem we encountered early on was that one of the poles on the far right side of the bank hadn't fallen into it's spot properly. Several of the men were frantically looking for the correct spot to fix it, and I accidentally stumbled on it. I shouted out that I'd found it, and we guided the pole in. The Foreman praised me a lot of this, which made me embarrassed since I'd only found it by accident, and was just doing my job.

The Dam we were building, wasn't a massive impressive structure, it was mostly metal and designed to be intentionally a little flimsy so that it could flow with the water. (I'm not an architect or a builder irl, so I don't know if that's a legitimate design or not, but that's the design that was in the dream) And one of the things we would do to test the dam was push and pull on the finished parts to see how give it had. While doing one of these tests one day, the Foreman yelled at me for not doing it right and in time with the others. I told him that I WAS doing it right but no pieces were attached to mine, so of course I wasn't going to be able to have the timing exactly with the others. He told me that didn't explain why I wasn't shouting like I was supposed to. I explained that I was, he was just over there with the other guys and couldn't hear me over them.

All the while, I felt like I was slowly going insane. After work, I would go home and play with my cat, and periodically hallucinate. Things like, the bricks in the wall would shuffle into a face and talk to me. I don't remember what the brickface said, but that in the dream I remember thinking "this is just a halucination, i need to ignore it." Randomly, there was a moment where I saw my girlfriend dreaming. Her bed was there, and there was an indention for where she should be laying, but instead of here, there were all these fist size spiders crawling over where she should have been, and I could hear her voice calling out "someone please, someone get these spiders off of me." At one point I was playing with a light pointer with my cat, and the light pointer started spelling out words on it's own. Knowing this was just me going crazy, I ignored it.

Eventually, I got fired from the dam building team.

I got in my car, and drove over to my girlfriend's house, and then I crashed it into her house. The car was fine, since I had broad sided into the building, and I got out and went into her room where I had killed her in her sleep, and drug her body into the passenger seat of my car.

At that point, I stopped being the man. My point of view switch to that of a tv viewer watching the news, as several different news casters covered the carnage, sometimes actually catching him/me on tape has he/I belligerently killed people. I think a McDonald's was the sight of the first slaughter, and I/he used a large and bloody sword as his weapon.

When I woke up, I felt an overwhelming sense of depression.

    Hi and Welcome!

Interesting dream. So, your masculine side is trying to dam something up--probably emotions because water often symbolizes emotions in dreams--and authority figures let you down. They praise you and then tell you aren't' good enough--the boss who praises you and then tells you you arent' as good as everyone else.

You are probably emotionally vulnerable at this point in your life. The part where the dam is made flimsy suggests this. Also, the weird brick face and watching yourself on TV suggests that you feel detached from what is going on around you but powerless at the same time.

    Thoughts?
