A little history first - I lost my mother in August of 2007 and we were extremely close.

Last night I had a dream that I was at my grandmothers (also deceased) house ghost hunting. Every one that I recognized was deceased but not in the dream. We were having to close up the house to keep these creatures from outside from getting into the house because they would kill everyone inside if they did. My mom appeared out of nowhere and said one sentence.

She shook her head in despair and said: "You give somebody a smart duck, and what do they do. Chain it to the front porch, lop off it's head and eat it". She then walked off.

That line stayed with me. Mostly because it was mom that said it and because it made no sense.

Note- I have dreamed of her before right after she died. I dreamed that she called me on my cellphone. When she called, I knew she had passed and I started crying. I told her I love her and she stopped and said "Honey, I miss you too." and then resumed the conversation as if she had never stopped.

Anyway, can someone help shed light on my duck issue?

    Lisa

i have dreamt of my father like that, the night before i learned he had died.
i think the reason people dream of deceased loved ones is that they still ocupy much of ones thoughts, and that you still cared for her, and knew her well enough. though as time goes by memories get warped....eh i don't know what im talking about but there is one thing i have to say: now that she is dead you may never see again in the waking world, but when you sleep, you can see her. that is, that is how i see dreaming for me, so that when i sleep i can see him whenever. not always but sometimes...but that is better than never again.

oh and the thing about the duck, well im not so sure but it might be refering to something....i have no clue....wait i just thought of something. it might be nothing but...
there is this thing, when i was little, i drew ducks all the time. one time my mom was late for getting to my gradparents, and we left for the waterpark without her. though after a little while, there she was, and she told me that she found us by following little yellow ducks, (on different objects that were yellow... because god reminded her of how i drew ducks....umm i hope im not getting to off subject...hehe

I think that the dream has something to do with the ways or the trends of the world and your mother giving you advice. The phrase could mean something so rare marvelous and intelligent, would be ignored and made onto a pet, caged up or eaten. It seems as though it's a message to tell you to not take the wonders of the world for granted.

    Thank you

That actually does help. She had such a hard life when she was living and I know that she is still watching over me. Thanks again.
