I have a rather eventful, long and complicated dream history. Though this is a new one on me and so far I am having a problem figuring it out, so I was glad to find this forum :)

The setting of the dream is a hospital, more specifically what seems to be a certain ward of a hospital. The dream hospital was not laid out like any real/physical hospital or clinic I have ever been in.

Apparently I am some sort of worker in the hospital, but not a physician or nurse. I get notified when someone is not willing to live any longer. When I get this paperwork in the dream, my job is to visit with the patient, have them sign forms and then administer their end of life.

In the dream I administered two patients. The first patient I don't recall what they looked like or what gender they were or why they wanted to end their life. I do remember mixing two things in a beaker that resulted in a red liquid that smelled very sweet, almost like strawberry koolaid. Then I went back into the patient room with it and gave it to the patient. They drank it and then closed their eyes and apparently, died.

The second patient I recieved paperwork on was a woman named Laurie. I don't recall what she looked like either or what her condition was, but I do remember visiting with her and she said she was tired of fighting and just wanted it over.

When I mixed her "red stuff" up it smelled really good and I couldn't stop myself...(?) and drank some of it but not all of it.

Then suddenly I was in my mother's garage and my boyfriend was in the wood shed and I ran to him and told him what happened. I was crying and panicing saying that it was a mistake and I had not meant to drink it and I didn't want to die. He said that it was okay and the poison only worked if a person drank all of it so I would be just fine and not to worry.

    Then I woke up.

Can't seem to figure this out. I have been looking at some symbolic libraries and other dream interpretation sites and nothing there seems to fit anywhere.

    So...what do you all think?

    Hi and Welcome!

This is a very rich dream in details. The potion smelled good, but do you remember what it tastes like? The smell and taste of it could be related to an actual food substance and what you associate with it. For example, if you dream about apple pie, then it could bring back memories of when your grandmother used to make pie and it was really warm and delicious.

What I take from the dream is this: Either you or people you know are "drinking the kool-aid." If you're not familiar with the term, it refers to someone who believes and "swallows" anything they are told and are willing to follow authority no matter what. Do you consider yourself gullible? Do you know other people like this?

In the dream, you take the part of the person who follows orders but inside, you do not want to end up like the other "kool-aid drinkers." Do you wish you could be more independent that your current situation allows?

    Hello Sweet Slumber :)

The liquid tastes like strawberry kool-aid....I keep thinking about this and your suggestion...have no idea of any correlations of it. I never drank koolaid as a kid...and haven't drank much as an adult. I can't think of any reason why I would refer to it as koolaid in a dream....the only thing really is that it looked like koolaid...and Jim Jones had his people drink poison koolaid... but I'm not religious and I'm not in a cult lol But that's all I can think of about it.

No, I don't consider myself gullible but I do know people that are...though not any of my friends or family. This is why it is kind of messed up for me, this dream, I can't quite clue into any of the symbols.

I cannot recall lately that anyone has presented an item to me in which I was expected to simply accept and not question.

I also work for myself and so I really have no boss or anyone to answer to...so for me there is no following orders for the sake of following orders. I also don't feel pushed around, stressed out or otherwise compromised by any of my clients.

It also seems to me in my dream that I was working in the hospital but I wan't part of the hospital....like I was called in as a consultant to work with these people that wanted to die. Though, that part makes sense because I am a consultant in my work in life.

Dunno....quite the mystery, this dream. Like I said in my original post, I have been looking in dream dictionaries and all over online and nothing seems to quite fit. The only thing I can think of is that it represents something I am just not aware of yet...meaning I try hard to see if something correlates...perhaps I am trying too hard or perhaps I just can't see it yet. Conscious mind not working with the subconscious on this one yet ;)

Thanks for your input though...at least it keeps me thinking in new directions.

    You're welcome.

Dream dictionary's can be a useful tool, but also try to make associations with the symbols in the dream. What does the strawberry liquid remind you of? Asking questions like these can help you make connections that will tie the pieces of the puzzle together.

You may have to work out what this liquid represents in your life.

It seems to represent something that isn't prescribed/for to you but it is so tempting to you. The tasting like kool aid part may mean that it may come to you disguised looking harmless.
