I am currently in a terrific relationship and I am living with my boyfriend of a year and a half. However, the past few nights I have been dreaming about some of my ex lovers.
The first few nights I dreamt of a guy i dated 2 summers ago, then I dreamt of the boyfriend I lost my virginity to, the next night I dreamt of a serious boyfriend I had throughout highschool, and last night I dreamt of a guy I had a one night stand with.
I have no feelings for any of these former lovers, and I can't remember the specific details of the dreams, but in each dream i was romantically involved with these guys. The only dreams that i had about my current boyfriend during this time were nightmares that he was cheating on me.
Could someone please give me some insight into what these dreams mean?

Do you think about the possibility that he's cheating on you, or has someone similarly close cheated on you before?

I know he is definately not cheating on me and if any of my other boyfriends have in the past, i am unaware of it.

Okay, these types of dream are often just "what if" type dreams that everyone has from time to time. In fact they often come when you are in a serious relationship, I think our sleeping mind, or subconscious, likes to make sure we are sure we want to stay with the person we are with by making us dream about alternatives in some cases, and sometimes about our ex-lovers, to make comparisons.

I think, with these types of dreams, it's how you feel when you wake up that is often more important than how you feel in the dream. Most people wake up thinking "what the Hell was that all about, I love my boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband?" And a small minority might wonder if they should be with who they're with or not. Your subconscious is very child-like and always wonders if you're going to be all right whenever you find yourself doing something new, or stepping up a relationship of life situation another notch, so will often run through all the possibilities in your dreams to try and make sure that you're sure everything will be ok.

It's not just with relationships either, it would be the same if you were moving to another city or country, something big like that, you'd start dreaming about all the places you've lived and even how fond you are of one or two of the places... but then if you override all that and go and move anyway it shows your subconscious that you care more about what you're doing now than anything you've done in the past.
