Last night I had a dream about cats. I was living somewhere with my mum and my brother but it was an unfamiliar house. I also remember a big lawn out the front of the house. We owned 6 cats, although one of them belonged to my brother-in-law (my sister's soon to be ex husband). There were 3 kittens, 2 of them were pure black and one was mostly black, with some white markings. None of them had names. Then there were 2 fully grown cats, one was black and white, with a fluffy black tail and the other one was a ginger (orange) tabby. The black and white fully grown cat was named Moses and the ginger tabby was named Boris. There was also another cat but I can't remember what colour it was or its name (this one belonged to my brother-in-law). In the dream, my brother-in-law came over to get his cat and then later in the dream, my mum told me that one of the kittens had died. Now I once owned a ginger tabby named Boris and when I was a kid, we had a black and white cat named Moses. He was my sister's cat but she moved and couldn't have him in the house, so we got to keep him. Does anyone know what this dream means?

How do you feel about your soon to be ex brother-in-law? This could be a clue to the dreams interpretation.

There were 6 cats. Does the number 6 have any special meaning or association to you?

3 kittens were black with no names. This could represent something you feel is lurking, something menacing (or even evil?) that you can't quite explain. Do you feel soemthing bad is going to happen in the near future? Or did something happen 3 years ago that still haunts you?

2 grown cats black and white. This is a contrast--between good and evil, between light and darkness, or some other associations unique to you. What do you think a black cat could represent and what do you think a white cat would represent?

Do any feelings you had for Boris and Moses remind you of the same feelings you are experiencing today?

I also found this at the site's dictionary:

Cats have both positive and negative connotations. You need to consider all of the details in the dream in order to obtain accurate interpretation. The cat can be a symbol of sexuality, femininity, prosperity and power. A cat is also an independent animal, and in your dream you may be associating yourself or someone else with these characteristics. Usually the dream is telling you about yourself and not others. Historically black cats have been symbols of evil and bad luck. If you are a cat lover and have one as a pet, the symbolism may not apply to your dream. Old, superstition-based dream interpretations say that a cat is a bad omen and that you can expect deceit from those that you trust.

My sister and her husband (soon to be ex) have been officially separated for almost a year now but they have been living apart for about 2 years now. It doesn't bother me that they will be getting divorced soon because I've had a long time to get used to it.

As for something bad happening in the near future, my grandfather is dying and not expected to live much longer (probably going to die within the next few days). My brother and his wife are expecting their first baby in a few weeks but I don't feel anything bad is going to happen there.

Im not quite sure how to interpret this dream.

If I'm really puzzled by a dream, I let it roll around in my head and focus on any bodily sensations or associations with the imagery. For example, you might get a gut cramp when you think about the images of Boris and Moses. Then if so, sort of drift off to let your mind make any associations with that feeling.

The hardest dreams to interpret are our own.

    kittens LOTS of kittens

I often have dreams with animals in them. Almost always baby animals.
Colts, baby lambs, calves - but primarily puppies and kittens.
    Its never just 2 or 3 . Its always 7 or 12.
They are always tiny little toddling fur balls. In various colors. playing in the sunshine, or grass. Nothing bad or anything .There are just so many.
I notice them periodically through out the dream.
They have nothing to do with the events of the dream.
The thing is - they are randomly in ALOT of my dreams.
    Puppies & kittens ... ???? why ?
