I keep having dreams about animals attacking me. I have a lot of dreams about tigers attacking me. Last night, I dreamt that I was on vacation in Maui (I went there last summer). Right outside is the ocean, and the waves are getting really big (this happens a lot in my dreams). In the house there is a fireplace. Birds kept coming down into the house through the chimney, and they would always fall right into my face. The weird thing was, there was never just one bird at a time, they always came in pairs, two birds that were fighting each other. I was worried that they would scratch me up with their claws. One time, I was standing there and two pairs of birds came down at the same time and flew right into my face. I remember their feathers were really soft. I realized that the damper in the fireplace was open, so I closed it. This didn't stop the birds from coming in, they broke right through it. In this dream there were also other animals attacking me, but I remember the part with the birds the best.

    Hi birdy,

Perhaps the birds, birdy  , are a symbol for something else. When you say they come in pairs, I'm thinking of that old saying "birds of a feather flock together." Have you experienced a betrayal of some kind recently? Two people schemeing behind your back? That could explain why they attack in the dream.

The birds don't actually attack me, they are in the process of attacking each other. I was worried that they would attack me, but they don't. The other animals do, though. There were various other animals. I think one of them was a goat.

Ok, then perhaps the birds and other animals could represent intinct or habitual behaviors. That's what animals sometimes represent in dreams.

Are you currently trying to eliminate a bad habit or perhaps not listening to your gut instincts about a situation?

An even better way to figure it out is to ask yourself what the animals mean to you or how you feel about them.

For me, dreams about dogs and dreams about cats mean two different things. Dogs for me represent loyalty, companionship, and protection. Cats represent independence or fearing the lack of. Individual animals often represent different characteristics.

In my dream group, the other members who dreamt of horses felt they were about being carefree and untamed passions. For me, they represented something that was subdued or "broken down." That is how they were characterized in my dreams as well.

A long time ago I had this dream where I was with a group of people and then I lost them, and I was wondering what to do. Then a bird flew down and told me to follow him, so I did. While I was following him, I asked him what he was (because I knew it was a dream), and he told me he was my "inner voice."

Actually, I just thought of something. Maybe the birds represent the "chatter" inside my head, like my thoughts. That would actually be extremely relevant, because I've been taking this medication which makes me obssess over and stress over everything, and thinking about anything has become painful (I'm trying to go off the meds). I spend a lot of time just trying to silence my brain (sort of like how I try to keep the birds out in the dream). The bird in the other dream felt more positive, but the birds in this one had more of a negative feeling to them. Also, the problem was really bad when I was in Maui. I think I just figured out what the dream was about. Thanks.

Why did you choose "Birdy" as your screen name?

Because I feel a special connection with the birds. It used to be that whenever a bird would appear in my dreams, it was always have this very special feeling to it. This dream is an exception, though.
