I am looking for help interpreting a mysterious dream that I had last night. I actually woke up scared to death. I would appreciate any and all insight. To brief readers on the situation in my waking life, someone I cared very deeply for has cut off communication with me. He has not spoken to me in exactly three months. I received no explanation for his actions. Last night, I had a very vivid dream about him. I dreamed that he committed suicide. I was also watching people walk into the church for his funeral (I did not attend) from my car window. Everyone was dressed in black, of course. The only thing I said was, "He's dead," but I also found it hard to believe that he was. It was almost like I believed it was a lie or something. I remember crying over him but nothing would come out. I also remember crumpled white paper being in my car, supposedly from him (as if he had returned from the dead). In real life, this guy is very much alive, but just has no use for speaking to me anymore. I have had prophetic dreams about him in the past, so this is really unsettling to me. For instance, in the past, when he was dealing with a problem that I did not even know about, I would dream he was poking me on the arm (and I would literally feel it), trying to get my attention. Any insight would be appreciated. The23Girl
I don't think prophetic dreams are very common, if they exist at all. I think what you see as prophetic dreams are probably just your unconscious mind pointing out things your conscious mind hasn't noticed. For example, with the dream where he was poking you, perhaps he had a slight change in his voice or his facial expression which your conscious mind, at the time, didn't think was important. Your unconscious mind, however, pays more attention to things like that, so it told you in your sleep that your friend's behavior is important. I think the dream about your friend committing suicide is just your worrying that he will be gone from your life forever. I don't think you should take it as prophetic, otherwise it might be a self-fulfilling prophecy: if you think that your dream says your relationship must end, you won't make an effort to help your relationship, and then your relationship really will end. But it really won't be the dream predicting the future, it will be your actions that influence the future.
Perhaps the suicide your dream is referring to is the death of your relationship, that he ended. Hence the suicide -(he ended his life). It very well could also be prophetic. I believe wholeheartedly in prophetic dreams, as I have had several. Ones that are exact in detail with the actual event, which usually ocurrs about a week after I dream it. In either case, best of luck to you.
