Pigeons. Just pigeons. Of all the repeated elements in my dreams, they are the most recurring one. Any particular meaning they may have?
Perhaps. But what message does they carry? The pigeons I have seen vary in color (sometimes they are mostly gray, others they are white with gray patches, and more recently they have been almost entirely black).
Depends on the situation at the time. The gray and gray and white ones seem like normal pigeon-colors. Black pigeon seems like a cross with a crow or raven, maybe - symbolizing wisdom.
Thank you. Well, let me provide a little more detail: In most cases I am trying to grab pigeons but I am not able to (this in the case of mostly white pigeons). In others, I am able to grabe them - and yet, after a surge of rage I destroy them (in most cases these are the grey pigeons). Then recently the pigeons have been black and I have not been able to grab them either. So far the pattern broke only once: In one dream I was dancing with a flock of pigeons - they even had a "queen" and "king" whom came to dance with me. Then after a while of dancing they all depart.
As the pigeon is a bird, it basically represents an emotional aspect of yourself and can relate to a spiritual feeling or intent as well as represent a spiritual concept you have. As the pigeon can suggest a messenger, they could represent your emotional intent to convey a message, perhaps a spiritual one. Note how some pigeons who do deliver messages are spoken of as “carrier pigeons” which might suggest that the emotional intent where delivering a message is involved is more like a “tale carrier”. Note how we also speak of “the stool-pigeon” or informer. Tying to grab pigeons would suggest trying to get a hold on a particular concept – one regarding being a deliverer of “messages” or tales; trying to get it under control ? The True Self seems to find it difficult to hold onto the innocence of this concept (white pigeons) The rage against the concept seems mainly directed at the uncertainty relating to the concept of being a messenger. (the grey pigeons) The concept has recently been shown as being negative, unenlightened/unintelligent. (black pigeons) This version of the concept is equally difficult to get a hold on. The mention of white, grey and black pigeons could all simply suggest that a particular feeling or concept is not a simple black and white issue – not a factual one - but there may be a grey area in between, that is, it may require some judgment. The flock of pigeons would indicate that in your mind, this feeling or concept represented by the pigeon has acquired a lot of weight or importance. Dancing with the pigeons could simply express the joy or pleasure you derive from a feeling or concept which even appears to provide a sense of having high status or “class”. (had a queen and a king). This status or class, is of course very emotionally conceived as these are birds, not people. It may be implied that this joy could be short-lived. (after a while of dancing they all depart) A bird has also been regarded as a go between Heaven and earth. Are you by some chance into functioning as a medium ? The message bearing aspect of a pigeon could suggest this emotional function.
Thank you for the reply and explanation. Let me dissect it to seek with more ease the meaning: Could be either way. Honestly until recent years I have tried to distance myself from any religious or spiritual matter, since I saw them both as imprecise (and thus unfitting to guide me). I no longer hold such stance, but I neither am I willing to believe anything. More properly I am more open in my worldview. Indeed. Pigeons are perhaps the most recurrent element in my dream, if they are not the core of the dream itself. Whatever message they carry, I am sure it must be important. Perhaps I could now provide further details on such dreams? Pigeons are a... Controversial figure to me. For one, because in dreams I sometimes want to kill them, and sometimes I have succeeded. When I grab these pigeons they just want to fly away, but I desire to squeeze them (until I realize in the dream that I cannot hurt them, so I throw them in frustration and kill them). The blood of the pigeons I should not is either not present (they just die and lay there) or they spray the ground with dark yellow bits. Whenever I kill them, I feel regret. I also have had a dream where I grab a pigeon that is hurt (mostly white with gray or black bits) and, using a hand glider, help it fly with it's flock. We fly relatively close to the ground (electricity lines and poles are with us all the way, as are fields and fences) but otherwise the pigeons are not hostile to my presence. Normally, pigeons are evasive when I try to get near them (understandably as normally I hurt them in dreams). Well, to continue what I was saying about before - I was always doubtful of this aspect of society. So I have to deny that assertion. To be precise: Even if I could contact the dead, I would not. On the other hand, a few interesting dreams with pigeons I had recently have also presented unprecedented scenarios: In one I am in the middle of a desert, next to a deserted desert town, and there are many mercenaries fighting. I duck for cover and find many black but white tailed pigeons running around. I see even a little one. In another, I grab a white pigeon, wish to kill it, then for once realize what I am trying to do and let it go so that I may not hurt it. It flies above to a cable, to safety. Finally, I recently have had a dream where I am in a remote place, in a countryside house. There is a hurt pigeon there (it's wing is broken) - again, I want to hurt it but finally I decide against it and instead give it a home. Soon I find more pigeons, small ones included. All of these were white with black or gray patches.
Thank you for the feedback. It was most informative. Since you have made a conscious effort to distance yourself from any spiritual concepts or even spiritual feelings, the fact that pigeons persist in appearing in your dreams can indicate that on a subconscious level (the level on which dreams are created) that you have not been able to completely eliminate the idea of having any spiritual feelings. It seems that no matter how hard you try to do away with such feelings, the feeling persists within you. And note that whenever you do manage to kill or terminate such a feeling, there is always a feeling of regret. By hurting pigeons in the dream, you are actually hurting yourself emotionally (as they represent an emotional aspect of yourself. The “message” they convey on a subconscious level may simply be that feelings of a spiritual nature do exist within you, that such feelings are very normal and commonplace as are pigeons themselves; that this is not an exotic unusual type of feeling for anyone to have. The dream can be showing the futility of fighting against a spiritual feeling and that perhaps you need to simply relax and enjoy it more (as when dancing with pigeons) There appears to be recognition of both the good and bad aspects within spiritual feelings (back and white pigeons) and a lot of uncertainty pertaining to such feelings. (many grey ones) The white one you wish to kill but “realize what I am trying to do and let it go” would indicate being aware of the innocence and ignorance your spiritual feelings convey and that you could simply “let them be”. Giving a pigeon a home would imply giving a spiritual feeling a place within your mental attitude. The deserted town would indicate grounds of reasoning on which there are no aspects of yourself that can find any reason for now being here. As the desert is nearby, this implies the town represents a way of thinking that associates with reasoning that is very lacking in spiritual knowledge. (no water)
Thank you for your reply. So essentially you are saying that I should give this thoughts a chance? I will see what I can do. Thank you once more for interpreting my dreams.
