Okay so I hardly ever remember my dreams. Last night I dreamt that my cat died while eating a small snake. When I looked closer, it was acutally a frog eating the small snake. So... my cat was eating a frog when it choked because the frog was eating the small snake and my cat couldn't swallow it. Then... after my cat died, he slowly regained his life, then died again. Wierd, huh?
A little info about my cat: He's abut 3 yrs old (21 or so cat yrs.) He is an outside cat, but comes inside to eat, hang out, and sleep ocassionaly.
I heard animals are important symbols in dreams, and this one just kind of freaked me out!
What do you think of this? And if you have any questions, let me know. Thanks!

    This is a positive dream.

Some of our dreams should be interpreted literally or almost literally. Thus, this dream may have something to do with your real-life cat.

However, I believe that most dreams – including this one – are not meant to be interpreted literally.

I have also noticed that the dreamer’s animal pet in a dream is often a symbol for the dreamer. Thus, your dream-cat probably represents you – more specifically, it probably represents your ego..

I believe that this is a chakra/kundalini dream.
    • The snake that was eaten by the frog is a very common symbol of kundalini.
    • The meaning of the frog is a little less obvious (to me). It may have something to do with the frog pose in yoga. However, I suspect that the frog is more likely to refer to the 5th chakra at the throat. This is due to the frog’s croaking sound as well as the “frog in your throat” idiom. Another possible meaning of the frog may have something to do with the frog’s transformation from a tadpole to a land animal. Such a transformation would be a good sign.
    • As for the cat – in chakra symbolism, the cat has a long tradition with the 3rd chakra. In addition to the 3rd chakra, the black cat is more generally associated with kundalini and even out-of-body experiences.

The death of the cat, its regaining its life and then dying again probably refers to the death of your ego. The death of the ego is a common experience (and may be a required experience) for a shaman.

    Hope this helps.
