You are gonna have to bear with me because in this particular dream I only remember this piece of it, but it stuck out the most for me and made everything else seem irrelevant so I'm assuming it's important. On top of that, it has happened the last 3 nights in a row.

    IRL:

There is this girl who had been my best friend for 5 years, we'll call here angelica. we finally agreed to get together and within two weeks she cheated on me. This was about a year ago and I feel like I've gotten over her and pushed her out of my life so I'm not sure why this dream is happening.

    Dream:

I am driving my car to my house from work. Roads seem like normal, aside from no traffic. It's dark out. As I pull my around a corner, I see a red light, and I see that angelica's car is stopped at the red light. Instead of pulling up beside her because I don't want to look at her, I pull up behind here. Suddenly I sense something on my driver side window.

I turn my head, and there is a small monkey looking at me. It is extremely cute. I put my hand on the window, and somehow the monkey grabs my finger through the window, not in any aggressive way, but firmly. I pull my hand away, shocked. I touch the window again, and the same thing happens. Suddenly I have an understanding that the monkey belongs to angelica, and I have a sense of urgency to bring it back to her. So I start pulling up next to her car, and she makes a sharp U-turn to go in the other direction. I follow after her but only for about 10 seconds until she stops in the middle of the road, at which point I pull up next to her.

I remember thinking to myself, "what about traffic?", and then turning around and seeing a huge line of cars behind us, but I didn't care. I got out of rolled down my window and without me really doing anything the monkey gets back into her car. I try looking at her, but she doesn't even look at me, and I can't see her face. She drives off, my car won't start, and people stuck behind me start going around me.

I always wake up both amused and nervous about the dream. I don't feel like it is a bad dream, but I just feel... uneasy about it. And I'd like it to stop.

Well, the monkey makes me think of her "making a monkey out of you."

Or the "monkey on your back." Maybe there's something you're suppose to realize is not your issue, but hers, and let it go?
