This being my first post I welcome any assistance anyone may be able to give..

My Ex-Gf and I have been broken up for about 3 years now but I still dream about her constantly. More specifically, I had one the other day after taking a flight back from vacation where I had a layover in her hometown of Los Angeles. My dream started by me seeing her but she wasn't looking at me. I was excited in my dream to see her because I obviously still feel for her but what followed next was a gentleman who entered the room who I would take as the man in her life. They started to talk and they were lying down together so I walked away because for one, I felt like I was spying and two it isn't something I'd want to see either way. I walked away silently as though to not be heard although I hadn't yet been seen. I left the room they were in and I heard them behind me questioning as to how the door I had just walked through was open as they hadn't left it open. Then I began to walk faster going through the living room and out the front door where I heard them again concerned about that one being open as well. One aspect of the dream I should mention is that it took place in my apartment. Like I said I've had several dreams of her before but of a different nature and I've never had one being in a room and being either invisible or a ghost of some sort. Any thoughts?

It sounds like you are thinking about your girlfriend's relationship with the new man in her life (Do you know that there is one?)

Or it could be that the gentleman with her in your dream is you; being in her hometown is bringing up memories from your past. That could be way the dream took place in your apartment.

Maybe her questioning how you were able to get through the door is really yourself asking why you still feel this connection with your girlfriend - why there isn't, mentally, a stronger barrier between you and her, since you have been broken up for three years.

I'm not sure if the man in the dream is someone in her life as I have no current information on how she's doing or what's going on with her. I'm not on facebook, myspace or twitter and I no longer have her number either. It's all very silly especially since we have been broken up for so long but my dreams seem to always consist of her. Sometimes my dreams are fun or even lucid at times but I really wish I could overcome the ones with her because they remain hurtful to me after all this time.

What you said about her questioning the open door would make sense because I always wonder why I have such a difficult time with this issue this long after the fact. I appreciate your opinion. I wish there were a more interesting topic involved but like I said, I've never had one were I was in a room going unnoticed. Is it common for dreams were you're unseen to be able to affect something in the room for the people who cannot see you to notice?

If you don't know what is going on in her life, then the man in the dream is something from your own mind - either your idea of who she might be with or some aspect of yourself.

It is normal to dream about someone from your past long after you stop thinking about them in waking life. This isn't anything to worry about, as long as you aren't obsessing over the person when you are awake, or if the dreams are so extremely upsetting that they affect how you function in waking life. It's just that your unconscious stores memories forever.

I'm getting from your posts that you do have unresolved feelings for her, but maybe that's just me and I'm reading something into it them that isn't there.

Anything can happen in a dream.
