ive been having this one for 3 months now. im only 14 and have never participated in even a fist fight. the first time i had this dream( 4 times each a different dream but same setting and people (if they survived the last one)) me and 4 other guys were getting off a plane at an airfield. we got off were given a C/O and being prepared for patrol duty. when the base was attacked by nva. we went out and helped fight em back but a guy died and the mess hall was blown up. one guy i remember cussed about that because he was hungry thats when i woke up. any idea at all what this means?
Is there something going on in your life that you think might lead to a big conflict? Can you think of why your dream would use the setting of the Vietnam War? Have you watched movies or read books about it, or do you know someone who is a Vietnam War veteran? The Vietnam War is often seen as a long drawn-out war where a lot of people died for no reason. Could that have any significance for you? The fact that despite your efforts someone dies and the mess hall blows up anyway could have to do with an idea that however you try to "win" a conflict or debate, in the end it won't really help anything. The guy complaining about being hungry could have to do with your thoughts about selfish people (he's worried about not eating when people around him are being killed) or feeling that your own needs aren't being met.
i study the vietnam war a lot. there doesnt seem to be any conflict in my life schools out so thats not it. mabye its just one of those dreams that happens for no apperant reason
I wonder if these dreams aren't compensating for the fact that you've never even been inn a fist fight. (Try not to get in one, by the way. In my youth, that would've gotten you to the principal's office, today you could end up in juvenile couirt.) Let's face it. School has its ups and downs, its good times and bad; but on a day-in, day-out basis it's pretty dull. Same old thing over and over. At least in your dreams there's something different and exciting. And, by the way, I can guarantee that when the mess hall is blown up, you're going to hear more than one GI use some pretty salty language!
i do a lot of airsofting and my loadout is much like a marines from vietnam perhaps my subconsious wishes it couldve participated in said conflict
It's quite possible. In my youth - the 1950s - many of us were into World War Two; and had our games and fantasies about flying P 51s or B 17s, or hitting Pacific beaches or taking on the Wehrmacht. It's all the more likely if you're considering the armed forces in later years.
