Hello friend, I am male and 16 years old incase that helps. I really need some help interpreting this nightmare of mine that really shook me too the core. But first let me explain a few things, I haven't talked to my best friend of 8 years since we got back from South Africa in July last year, he has tried to contact me but I havent contacted him back because I believe we out grew eachother and I can't say I miss him as since I've started looking into self improvement I only have memories of me and him where I have a characteristic that I hate in people and it makes me sad I suppose about my self. Ok lets begin, for the past probably 3 nights I've been waking up before 6am which is uncharacteristic of me because I'm a heavy sleeper that likes sleeping in, although I did set my alarm for 6 anyway to listen to a radio show. So last night I have the nightmare, me and my best friend were meeting up to reunite I believe, in a park that we've been too a lot in our childhood and there are these rocks made out of like tarmac that road is made out of, we start climbing up them (there were increasing in hieght until the tallest one which was roughly the size of a 2-story house) My friend had incredible balance and I was really impressed but I realised that he was dissapointed with me and coming to false assumptions about my personality and behaviour. I couldn't balance well and crouched for a low centre of gravity and he kept throwing it in my face. So we get to the highest rock and he's balancing on the very edge on one toe looking at me talking, then we hear this in-human scream, but I knew what to expect somehow but I was panicked. I told my friend to crouch down then we saw two things running extremely fast in the park below, a predator (as in alien vs predator) running away from a Panther in white shorts that had a human shaped body (standing upright). The Panther gained on the predator and swiped it in the back of the head and appeared to have killed it. I was extremely panicked but warned my friend to wait on the rock with me (I remembered that the panther had recently killed a child in the town, like a made up memory in the dream) The panther let off the unhuman scream again that shook me to the core, completely unnerved me. My friend was loud, scared, hysteric, he climbed down despite the fact the danger hadn't passed. I kept trying to tell him to stay but I couldnt control him so I went down with him and atleast told him to run in the opposite direction we saw the panther run and we ran and didnt look back but I had this feeling the panther was gaining on us. I heard the scream once more and then woke up at 5.30am shaking, scared of the dark, scared to get out of bed, scared to hop in the shower and when my mum said she was going for her 5.40am walk, I didnt want her to go and told her about the dream and she laughed it off with me (she came back unharmed). At the end of the day the dream seemed silly and I could walk in the dark like normal, but still the dream was so unnerving like nothing i've ever encountered before. What's the go? Thanks in advance, some extra information, I study psychology so have a large interest in human behaviour, mental process and particularly personality and personality disorders so I consider myself calculated and logical but also find it hard to relate to others because I find them materialistic and ignorant to important issues or behaviours that seem obvious to me which frustrates me a little. I don't know if it's important. So please help me explain this because I havent had any issue linger on my mind like this all year.
well i may not be Marcia and i respect her greatly. but these kinds of dreams fall under my specialty. it is interesting hat you mention the predator because in life he is the essence of skill. and the humanoid panther is interesting to the panther is the essence of patience. so if they are hunting you it may mean you are having a inner conflict. [Thanks in advance, some extra information, I study psychology so have a large interest in human behaviour, mental process and particularly personality and personality disorders so I consider myself calculated and logical but also find it hard to relate to others because I find them materialistic and ignorant to important issues or behaviours that seem obvious to me which frustrates me a little. Your dream begins with you being in a familiar environment with someone you know well. You and this friend are confronted with a challenge -- climbing the rocks. You're impressed with your friend's performance while doubting your own. You feel he's made false assumptions about your personality based on your physical performance. This could be imagery that you've presented to yourself about the belief that behavior provides insight into character. This is a mainstream belief in psychology, one in which your friend adheres to. That he aligns with this belief could be why he performs so well. Within the dream you know his assumptions are incorrect. You're doubting this belief and doubt leads to a faltering and so you don't perform as well as he does. At the top of these rocks, this friend of yours unnecessarily shows off by standing on the very edge and on one toe. Surely, this is foolish! You hear the scream and you crouch down. Now, this is interesting. You also climbed the rocks by crouching down and lowering your center of gravity. In the first instance, it was seen as a weakness, but now it's wise to do so. Below you see the alien predator being chased by a panther. The panther is a natural predator while the alien predator is, well, just that, alien. This alien is wearing white shorts and is somewhat humanoid. Okay. White is the color associated with innocence, virginity, inexperience, purity and cleanness, among other things. Panthers often symbolize power and courage. In your dream you saw that the panther overtook the alien predator and it did so not by biting into its neck as a normal panther would do, but rather by swiping it across the head. So, the point of vulnerablity on this humanoid alien creature was it's head. This dream, I think, is a manifestation of your beliefs. First, that behavior provides insight into character, which you seem to question, and second that sheer power and physical strength can overtake the mind. These beliefs that you seem to be investigating subjectively could shake you to the core, as the scream did. Just my 2 cents!
Wow, thanks for the interpreting guys, it makes sense now. Especially the 2 things you bring up Canice. Although odd that the murdering panther was wearing the shorts of innocence and purity?
Ah, I read it that that predator had the white shorts. I was incorrect. That the panther had white shorts is interesting! I would read that as brute strength even with inexperience (purity as read as lack of experience) can overcome the most ominous monster imaginable. It seems to me that within your dream you're engaging 2 very strongly held beliefs. Belief 1: behavior gives insight into character Belief 2: ignorant strength overpowers the mind In both instances, I can think of many situations where both of these beliefs don't hold true. Maybe that's why the scream "woke you up" literally. Within your dream state, you're testing and questioning these beliefs. Very interesting!!
