a few weeks ago i saw my ex girlfriend float out of her bed now heres the thing she lives in nevada i live in georgia. i was asleep when i saw this the part that scared me is that it looked real.yesterday she called me and she sounded afraid. word of the truth we never really broke up we moved apart. she said these crazy things where happening in here new/old house. so i did some research on the house turns out it was used by wiccas for a dream ritual. now what gets me is in our conversation she said somthing about her floating from her bed. so she is now on her way here. she did send me pics of her back and there was claw marks all over just like i dreampt

If you and she are dreaming about the same things, then it is a sign that you have a very strong connection.

If it really has to do with a Wiccan ritual, one of the most important rules of Wicca is never to harm anyone, so it would probably have to do with protecting someone or something. Maybe floating from the bed could be like being held safely in someone's arms.

Floating upwards could also have to do with wanting more freedom. Maybe you both dreamed about her floating off the bed because you would like her to have the freedom to leave her home in Nevada (represented by the bed) so she can spend more time with you. Or you could both just generally wish that she had more freedom in other ways.

Physically, when you are asleep most of your external senses get cut off. You don't see or hear what is going on around you in the waking world. Your external sense of gravity also gets cut off. Normally, when you are awake, you feel that your body is being pulled down to the ground (or bed or chair or whatever you are on), but you are so used to it because you feel it all the time you don't notice it. When you are asleep and you lose your sense of gravity, your brain can get confused and interpret it as floating or flying.

The scratches could just be that she scratched herself in her sleep. It could be related to a dream that she had that she didn't remember when she woke up. I sometimes wake up and find that I've scratched myself but didn't remember. If you think she couldn't reach those spots on her back, remember that when you are asleep your muscles can relax more, and you don't have conscous limitations on what you are physically able to do, so you could be able to stretch more than you can when you are awake.

You can hallucinate when you are in bed just before you have fallen asleep or just after you have just woken up. These are called hypnagogic hallucinations if you are falling asleep and hypnopompic hallucinations when you wake up. If she had scratches down to her muscles she would be bleeding heavily and need stitches and a tetanus shot plus antibiotics because she would be in danger of infection.

I think these hypnogogic and possibly hypnapompic (sp?) hallucinations may be what I've been experiencing. They are really starting to scare me. What can be done to stop them? My doctors don't understand/haven't heard of it, and dismissed my concerns, INCLUDING a counselor I saw just for this reason. She basically brushed me off as just an ordinary sleep deprived new mom.

And on a side note, I hear things on the outside when I'm dreaming. Things that are actually there, just distorted heavily. Like dreaming I hear an alarm clock, in the dream, when I'm laying there motionless missing whatever appointment or whatever I'm supposed to be catching, or like hearing the fan while I am paralyzed lucid dreaming...see new thread.

    13fullmoon,

See my answer to your post that you called "Frozen".

This is almost certainly sleep paralysis.

It is associated with stress and lack of sleep. They are also more common in people who have a history of panic attacks. Very frequent episodes of sleep paralysis are a symptom of narcolepsy.

I am very surprised that your doctor and counselor have never heard of sleep paralysis, and even more surprised that they have never heard of hypnagogic and possibly hypnopompic hallucinations, because those are very common.

It is likely to be sleep deprivation because you are a new mom, but would it be possible for you to go to a sleep clinic to be tested for any sleep disorders just in case?

Is there any chance you are suffering from postnatal depression? Depression can make it harder for you to fall asleep or to stay asleep.
