Had an experience a few weeks ago while on a pilgrimage in Greece in which (as I later found out) I got "hijacked" out of my own dream and into a dream that a fellow pilgrim was dreaming at that same moment - then was "rescued" from her dream and back in my own but overhearing my rescuers talk about (what I later found out was) the experience she was having in her dream. That's the very short version. I don't know what this is called and haven't been able to find out anything about it in the literature - help, anyone?

Sorry, I am confused about what happened.

Do you mean that you were on a pilgrimage in waking life and that you and another pilgrim had the exact same dream and you appeared in her dream as a character in the dream?

Or do you mean that you dreamed you were on a pilgrimage and her dream was within your dream?

We were (in real life) on a group pilgrimage through dream sites in Greece. One night I was having a perfectly nice dream when suddenly I found myself in a completely different dream-place and had the distinct sensation of having been yanked out of my own dream and into someone else's dream experience. A few moments later (still dreaming) I had the distinct sense of having been "rescued" from that other dream, and now I was overhearing my rescuers talking about what they'd rescued me from and an experience that was happening to someone else. None of this made any sense to me but I woke up and wrote it all down anyway. Again, I'm skipping the content details - later that next day my real-life fellow traveler Jamie was sharing her dream of the night before, and I instantly recognized the dream into which I had been "hijacked" and rescued from - and about which my dream "rescuers" had been talking.

This is all made the more interesting because, before the dreams, Jamie and I had connected in a profound psychic way around what she called her archetypal "Medusa-Mermaid" energy - and I later found out that before going to sleep that night she had specifically invoked her Medusa-Mermaid to come to her in dream to bring her guidance. When I heard that, I was clear that I was still "tangled" in her Medusa-Mermaid energy and that her invocation had in fact called me out of my dream and into hers.

What was the actual content of the dreams - yours and hers? What are the dream sites in Greece that you went to see?

This was a pilgrimage with Wisdom University called "Dreams and the Underworld in Ancient Greece" - we visited and did dreamwork at the Asklepion near Epidaurus, at the Necromantion near Ammoudia, and at Delphi.

Relating the specific content of our 'mingled dream' would take too much time but can share with individuals via email if you'd like. Here's the framework:

On our first morning in Epidaurus we did a group dreamwork process that involved one of our group - a young woman named Jamie - sharing the dream she'd had the night before, then calling people from the group to represent various elements of her dream in a re-enactment that then continues on beyond the boundaries of the dream itself. Jamie almost off-handedly chose me to represent the dream-imagery she called her Medusa-Mermaid, which ended in a very profound experience for both of us as I felt myself moving as if in response to inner instructions in ways that meant nothing to me in the moment but catalyzed deep and soul-shaking responses in her.

Fast forward: That night I had a silly dream, which I rather reluctantly awoke from to write down because that's what we'd been told to do. It involved a clear sense of having been hijacked out of a perfectly nice dream of my own into someone else's, then as suddenly being rescued out of that other person's dream by people who proceeded to talk about the experience that other person was dreaming, in fair detail. It all felt very silly and inconsequential until in lunchtime conversation Jamie (the young woman from the day before) began to share with me the dream she'd had that same night, at the same time - and it was incontrovertible (details provided upon request) that I had in fact been "hijacked" out of my own dream into hers, and that the dream-people who "rescued" me were in fact talking - in my dream - about the details of the experience Jamie was having in hers.

The stunner came when (the real) Jamie told me that before going to sleep she had intentionally invoked her Medusa-Mermaid to bring guidance around her next step. Well . . . that explains why I got hijacked into her dream: Clearly I was still connected to her through the Medusa-Mermaid energy and very properly appeared in her dream when called!

Anyway, that's the gist of it. I've shared it with a very few dreamworkers and they tell me that though they know of the experience where multiple people are sharing the same dream experience or imagery, they'd never heard of this kind of "entanglement," where the dreamers were having unique experiences that crossed over each other.

    That's very interesting.

It does make sense to me that since you spent so much time talking about your dreams and your feelings about your dreams that you would share a lot of the same dream imagery and that you would dream about each others dreams.

Regarding the details, do you mean that you had the exact same dream that she did, with both of you doing the same things in the same place in each dream only from different persectives?

Did you both keep dream diaries and write down your dreams as soon as you woke up, before you spoke to anyone else, so your memories of the dreams weren't influenced by what you said to each other when you spoke at lunch?
